OT- Retirement and Eggspectations.
After 40 years of selling in the high tech industry, I have decided to retire when I turn 63 at the end of May.
I calculated that my retirement income will be $141 less than my current take home pay after taxes so why not?
My plan besides the usual stuff (taking care of my Lab, working out, travel, and hobbies) is to focus on stepping up my Egg game to go beyond the standard cooks and cracking open all those cook books that I have sitting on a shelf right now.
My wife will be working a few more years so I will be treating her to a new culinary treat each day.
Starting June 1st, my retirement Egging adventure begins. Posts and Pics to follow.

Godspeed!
You'll know you're really retired when you start forgetting what day of the week it is. 😋

Not far behind you....and looking forward to the day I can call it finished (work) myself. All the best and look forward to seeing your cooks.

Welcome to the wonderful world of retirement. I was able to bail out at age 60. I'm now in my 14th year and have never looked back.

As above, if you wear a watch get one with both the date and day on the face. When "when every day is Saturday" it helps.
I would give strong consideration to doing some solid volunteer work especially since your wife is still in the work force. Many organizations will gladly accomodate your scheduling desires. !0-15 hours per week is a major contribution for them and gives value to your time. FWIW-
Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. # 38 for the win. Life is too short for light/lite beer! Seems I'm livin in a transitional period. -
Enjoy!

Glad to hear you’ll keep the Lab going.

What’s funny is running into your former coworkers, hearing about the work problems at the old office, and being able to say “I’m sure you’ve got it”.

Congrats! Adulting is real work. We've been investing in our future for many years so that we can possibly retire early...time (and the market) will tell. Enjoy retirement.

Really cool and rare to retire on your own terms in high-tech. Congrats!

I'm hoping "every day is a Saturday"; my current Sundays have this gray, cold dread over them, especially towards the evening... 😒

Timely for me as I have just made a few last minute IRA contributions and filed my tax returns. I'm looking forward to the day but it will take me sometime before I get there. At this rate, probably another 10 years according to my current calculations and projections.
Tip o the hat to you sir.

I understand about the day of the week thing. There are times we (me and Mrs bucky) will say this seems like ----day. Get involved in what matters to you. There is more out there than you have the time to contribute .

Congratulations! You should have grate eggspectations for your retirement. 😎

I'm predicting that grey, cold Sunday dread will be gone in about 5 more

In all honesty I still dream about my last job (major stress). My wife retired 8 years tells me she still has work dreams a few times a month.

Congratulations on the retirement. I retired on Jan 1, and every day is a Saturday. Played golf today, smoked a cigar on course, mixed a drink at 5, and cooked dinner tonight on egg. Perfect day, and had a glass of wine ready for wife when she got off work. She will still work for next 7 years 😜 or so.
Enjoy life now....you earned it and don’t let others make you feel guilty. Work was way overrated!

My dog kept trying to wake me up so that I could go to work for the first two weeks. Then he gave up and climbed back in bed.

Congrats to you. I hope you enjoy every day of your retirement. It is well deserved for the work you have put in.
I have one last project to shepherd through before I call in retirement. It is a task that will take 36 months, but I hope I have this operational in 24-30. That should correlate with our son's graduation from college.
If those stars line up correctly...I will be gone.
I really like what I do. However, I do look forward to spending uninterrupted time with My Beautiful Wife, doing what WE love.
We have begun to research property in several locales, so we will see where we may end up.
Best of luck @dstearn
