So our leasehold say egging is fine but our neighbour complained on the first attempt. Since which have done two cold smokes with a fan to try and disperse the smoke with no complaints and some great cheese and butter. So thought I’d try a proper use again this weekend + fan. Feels like something relatively quick would be sensible but paralysed by choice with lots of votes for each option but no majority.
What would be be your sub two hour cook that would highlight the best of the egg?

Meatloaf, 2 hours at 250. Good luck!

For me it’s a spatchcock bird or pork loin or tenderloin. These traditionally have risk of dry results and will highlight the amount of moisture that is retained by the egg. Good luck, have fun, and enjoy.

Does your neighbour have a cat?

Given they’re a rule basher I’d guess not as the lease actually says 4 things, no pets, no laundry on balconies, no damage to outer walls and no nuisance to neighbours.

My vote was spatchcocked bird, thick cut pork chops or pork chuck but beef kept coming up

Cook something indirect and use a drip pan to keep the smoke down. Also, consider changing charcoal brands. Some smoke a lot more than others. They are several “across the pond” eggers here that can chime in on the best available lump for you.

You’re better people than me. I’d do pork but with no drip pan and extra wood to establish what Smokey is so that anything less than that is now acceptable

At the moment have BGE UK own brand lump, on the first attempt was just about to put down the lid when they complained. Had guests at the time that meant I just closed it down rather than argue which put us on the back foot

throw in a small piece of plastic and leave for the day (throw pork out when you get back)

10lbs whole tilapia, not too hot and no drip pan.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER -
Whatever you make, consider bringing some of the results to the person offended by the smells. I dont mean in spite, but possibly as a good hearted thank you for allowing the cook to happen. This may soften their heart a little.

Vertical (aka beer can) roasted chicken indirect with a drip pan. The chicken will be incredibly moist and this set up won't produce much smoke. And I agree with the suggestion of offering a peace offering to take the edge off with your neighbors.

Agree with @DoubleEgger
A drip pan will really help cut down the smoke. Spacers under the drip pan providing an air gap and or a little water in the pan will also stop the drippings from burning.
Avoiding sauces with a bunch of sugar will also help.
Good luck.
I vote for meatloaf.
