Brisket novice here, cook brisket just 1 or 2 times a year!
This time wanted to try adding broth when wrapping at 160, but worried about waxless butcher paper's ability to hold liquid. So I compromised by building a shallow foil tray to hold the broth before wrapping with bp. Perhaps with broth the bp was redundant/moot and I was overthinking it? Pulled at IT 200, brisket came out tender and we were so busy eating I forgot to get sliced shots.

Hmmm. Hybrid technique. Might be the best of all worlds - and the new way we all cook brisket.

He11 of a bark on that meteorite. However you get there is what counts. No worries with the BP holding liquid-it will run wherever it wants. @Canugghead I have read your opening post several times along with the title. I am a few orbits short of LEO but it seems to me there was no settling or did it evade me and you declared victory with a compromise??

Thanks all for the kind words. My apology for the misleading thread title. As @Killit_and_Grillit and @lousubcap commented, I merely settled on the hybrid compromise. Kind of like agreeing to disagree!
I suppose one can do three briskets simultaneously and offer a blind taste test, that'd be a good project for brisket camp

Here's a related video addressing how to finish a brisket; It's all in what you are shooting for. (Edit:) Thus every friggin cook is a challenge unto itself. FWiw-

@lousubcap Thanks for sharing the video. This cook was indeed an intimidating challenge that I don't have to face again any time soon
