I have one that is a generation later. More programs, but the same motor. Very powerful. I don't rely on the programs, and do lots of things just by manual pulsing.

Already got one but at that price maybe I'll get that one just so I can make my own "will it blend" videos.

  • My blendtec has been amazing. Well worth that price.

I should buy one just to blend it up into pieces with my Vitamix.

Guess that's a good thing.  I've always wanted a nicer blender.  Saw your post and sure enough, back up.  Looks pretty neat from Nola's picture too.

  • Shows up for $169 when I click on the link. Great price as we don’t need it. We already have a vitamix and a blend tech. If not I’d be all over this deal.

    Yup. Back to 169 today

  • Paid $400 for the same one like 5-6 years ago )and that was a deal). It’s all been replaced under warranty (2 jars and a base/motor). They sent me the new base when my old one went out  a few months ago so the whole thing is new again. Even though I’ve had some issues with it, It’s a great blender and their service is excellent as well. Like a BGE, it’s a beast the warranty is legit. Also like a bge, you will likely use the warranty at some point so save your receipt.

Update - I made gazspacho today and this this unit is a beast. The speed ramps up and just when you think it hit high gear, it finds another high gear.

I had it pretty full and in that scenario you probably want to keep your hand on the lid.  It would result in a pretty horrific scene if it flew off.  Been there with other blenders.  This is really just necessary if it's more than half full.

I found a recipe I liked that used a blender, followed it.  After the blending step, next was run through a fine mesh strainer.  There was nothing left to strain.  It liquefied the seeds, skin, garlic, everything.  Also I added about 150 mL of the best EVOO I had and it was completely emulsified.

It warmed up just from the friction of the blending.  That's the price you pay with whatever it is, 1100, 1300 or so watts of juice.  So you can't go too long if you're trying not to cook it.  (there is a soup mode where you actually can cook your bisque with friction).  Tried a small bowl and it seems promising.  Gazpacho is best after it melds together for some time and is cold.  Jury is out, but looking forward to a bowl tomorrow.

I used the ripest romanos I could find, but it's not the best season for tomatoes.  Don't forget the stale bread - soak in water first.

One other note - the mixing cup is gradated (how did I know that word?) to a liter.  Which is a bit small compared to our Breville, which handles 2 liters.  Not a big deal, most of the stuff I blend fits fine.

Being a man, I didn't read the instruction manual, but I noticed the blades don't come out for washing.  This is awesome IMO because it's a pain in the arse to disassemble the Breville cup for cleaning, deal with the gasket, reverse threads, etc.

I just threw it in the dishwasher.  Don't know if it's dishwasher-safe, guess I will find out.

Maybe I'll put the manual next to the toilet, because that's the only time I'd read it.

Note 3 - it will wake the dead, depending on the speed and the contents.
