On March 17th I will be hiking the AT. I can only get a 3 month LOA from work so cannot hike the entire 2100+ miles. I’ll be starting in Harpers Ferry, WV and heading South to Springer Mountain. The point of this post is this; I will miss my eggs tremendously, and if any of you fine folks are situated in my travel path, well I’d love to meet you (and your egg!). Cheers!

I don’t see the reason for the tears. Just carry BGE’s “portable” model, the Mini Max!

Getting a 3 month LOA and missing a BGE - no comparison. Strike while the iron is hot and always remember the Late, Great Leroy "Satchel" Paige, "Don't look back, somethin' might be gainin' on ya." BGE will always be there, the opportunity for another LOA?? Enjoy the hike.

There was episode on North Woods Law where a hiker on the AT had gone missing and a massive amount of people went looking for him. They found him with a hurt ankle and unable to walk. He was wearing "crocs" IMHO, he has to be one of the dumbest person in the gene pool.

What an opportunity! I could get lost in the woods no problem. Been backpacking since I was a kid and I’ve never lost my love for it. Im down to little 5-milers every few weeks these days but always have wanderlust for multi week hike like that. Im sure that would disappear when I ran out of vodka and had to sleep on the ground for the 3rd night in wet clothes. It All sounds good on the Internet! Going to pour a Tito’s in your honor right now.

There was an accountant in Cincinnati who embezzled a ton of money from his employer and then proceeded to hide on the AT for years. There's a tight knit community of travelers on the AT.

Trip of a lifetime, kudos to you for doing it.
