Voting in America

It’s embarassingly depressing. There is no reason, no excuse as to why it should be so difficult for such a large number of Americans to vote. This is not to be taken as political, it's across the board. In Lexington today there were several precincts that had two hour waits to vote. That is way too long for anyone. Election Day should definitely be a national holiday and should occur over 2-3 days including a Saturday. I'm not talking about voter suppression, different topic for a different day.

I find it refreshingly optimistic. That many people showed  up to vote and they were willing to put two hours into it.

Wait until you’re a senior citizen and asked to stand for 2 hours. Enthusiasm will wain.

Voting should not be a one day work day kind of thing anywhere in the USA.

I didn't know until recently why it was on Tuesday. It was so farmers had time to travel to town after Sunday so they could attend church.

In Fl. we have a week maybe more of early voting or you can request a mail in ballot. Walk in do your thing and out or just mail it.

I badmouth utard relentlessly, but I gotta give my home state this "Attago!": we have early voting (via mail or early ballot dropoff) AND voter registration on Election Day, and that being one of the reddest states in the union.  :triumph:

Most walkers have a little seat on it, so you can sit down when you’re not moving forward.

Kind of like the Democrat message.  Not moving forward.

Find another excuse that there doesn’t seem to be a blue wave.

I know this was a bit in jest, but I'm old enough to remember when conservative meant moving slowly.

I continue to be annoyed and amazed by the fact that in instances where there are recounts the numbers always move. To me, the ballots should be counted and the numbers should match up 10 out of 10 times. Don't understand why this cannot be achieved nowadays.

While I totally agree - I fly a ton and the passenger count on an airplane is apparently high math as well.  If that doesn't happen 10/10 times, how can votes?  Fact is, neither is automated.  That's the issue.

In the UK it's always on a Thursday, 8 am to 10 pm. No early voting except for postal ballots. Votor registration is a simple process. All manually counted. Sometimes they get caught out and there's a wait at the polling station if turnout is exceptionally high.

Mixed results in Florida.  We kept a radical socialist out of the Gevrnership and voted out a do nothing Senator.

We we also voted to let convicted felons vote, so we’ll be voting blue very soon.   It may be a few years off, but our State is doomed.

Yeah the felon thing is huge.  Florida is a bizarre state.

LOL.  Bigger net wins than the Tea-Party wave in the middle of a booming economy, and some key governorships flipping.  Republicans have plenty to answer for after last night.

Some people must be born asshats. I stated in the beginning that this was not political and pointed to my state as a prime example. The issue here and in most states has been ongoing for decades. It doesn’t matter who is in charge.

There are two precincts where I vote. One had a long line, but mine was walk right in service.  I was ballot #285 at 5:30 pm.
