Operation BBQ Relief - NC Hurricane

Greetings from Fayetteville, one of two sites OBR is operating. Fayetteville area has a lot of flooding whereas the other site, Wilmington, has both flooding and wind damage. Just rolled in last night in time to help load 1500 meals to be taken to a shelter and rubbed 100 butts for the ginormous smokers. More pics to come. @dmw thanks for inspiring me to get off my butt and do something. Guys- this outfit is legit. Please consider donating. Will post more pics as cell coverage will allow.

I've seen first hand what these folks are capable of. Very "keep your head down and get it done". They work to get hot meals in many many bellies.#1 LBGE December 2012 • #2 SBGE February 2013 • #3 Mini May 2013A happy BGE family in Houston, TX. -

Heartbreaking story. A little while ago a woman arrived by herself in a beat up van looking for food and water. She looked rough but a kind soul and lived by herself. We fixed her a plate and sat her down in the shade and served her. She just put her head in her hands and started crying. After she composed herself a bit she explained that she had lost everything except a couple bags of clothes when her trailer flooded. A volunteer and I loaded food and gallons of water in her van. We noticed an empty dog crate in the van so we asked her about the dog. She burst out crying and said he drowned in the flood. Took me quite a while to compose myself.Richmond and Mathews County, VA. I read your post on the unfortunate situation of that lady to My Beautiful Wife. She asked how much we had donated, so I told her. She said double it. We did.

This morning we packed up Fayetteville and they are headed for Wilmington on the coast to join the other OBR folks where the hurricane came ashore. My sorry desk jockey @ss had to come home to rest up, hydrate and get pain killers. The main on-the-ground OBR leaders are beasts. A lot are ex-military and they can friggin go full out all day. I'm going to rest for the weekend and redeploy to Wilmington early next week if they need help. They estimated they will be in NC another week. Here are a few more photos.
