Foil/Drip pan used as melting dome on Blackstone?

I've owned a Blackstone for a few years, but have never felt the need for one of the melting domes.   I still don't think I'll need one too often, but was wondering if anyone had ever used a foil drip pan inverted as a dome/melter?   wasn't sure how well that would work or how it would do sitting directly on that hot griddle?
--Because I'm like ice, buddy. When I don't like you, you've got problems.
