Foil/Drip pan used as melting dome on Blackstone?

I've owned a Blackstone for a few years, but have never felt the need for one of the melting domes. I still don't think I'll need one too often, but was wondering if anyone had ever used a foil drip pan inverted as a dome/melter? wasn't sure how well that would work or how it would do sitting directly on that hot griddle?

A pot lid will work as well. You have a handle to prevent burning you handEllijay GA with a Medium & MiniMax

Not as good in the wind. Have to weight them down with tongs or spatula.

I've got melting domes, but I prefer pot lids like @northGAcock . With bigger quantities, I use my 14" weber dome on the blackstone.

Ah! you don't need to buy all that fancy stuff for the Blackstone... I just use Tucker's stainless water bowl for a melting dome. Dollar General 2 bucks.Lenoir, N.C.

I bought the blackstone one then needed more room. I got the 9” square baking pan from Walmart and drilled it and put a handle on it total was like $8 and I can do 4 burgers at a time with it. Works great.
