besides SRF. I’m feeling they are spending too much on advertising to be able to offer competitive prices.

anyone know of a lesser known source for heritage hog?

Grim, try Matador Meats. They use to have them reasonably priced. However you have to pay shipping. If I remember correctly, you have to type in Matador Steaks or Matador Steak company instead of Matador Meats to view the online prices.

Scratch what I said above brother Grim. I had got a little to deep in the pain meds and Captain Morgan when I posted that. I was F’d up as a liberal trying to tell the truth.
Here is what I meant to post. My apologies for the confusion.

@pigfisher turned me on to this place before we ended up eyeballs-deep in our pig venture

Sent an order to a friend for his birthday, and cooked up some fabulous chops while visiting. Happened to mention to the owner how much I missed Iowa sweet corn  when I placed the order.  Found a dozen ears of sweet corn gratis in the cooler box when it was delivered . I thought that was a fine gesture.

I ended up going with SRF and got a gold grade cap of ribeye that came out of the shipping container looking like this... how worrie about open packaging should I be?!

None the less, I would still let SRF know about it.  For the amount of money spent, you shouldn't have that.

    Just my opinion.

I would let SRF know, but still cook and enjoy if it was still frozen and the box/cooler did not look tampered with. If you think someone got into it, that is a cause for concern. How big is your call, but something nonetheless.

But I hope you do not cook a cap of ribeye very long....

In my experience, SRF vac sealing leaks.  What you have there is worse than normal, but their packaging is subpar.

I did contact SRF and their outstanding customer service shows once again. They have offered to either replace the meat (but not in time for dinner tomorrow obviously) or offer store credit. I guess I'll take the credit and still cook the meat. I'll probably go with Sous vide to guarantee pasteurization.
