OT- Butter Coffee -OT

Anyone tried this ?  It’s supposed to stop hunger cravings mid - day , and keep the 2pm crash away.  As a cop this sounds like something I need .  Just wondering if it’s another idiotic fad - like pop “music”

I’ve tried it and like it, although sometimes the oil can be a bit rough on the stomach...

I'd never heard of this stuff.   I have no idea if the take in this video is accurate, it just came up via the Google machine. So take it with a grain of salt.

  • Just made some from a simple recipe . 1 cup black coffee, 2 tablespoons salted butter , 1 tablespoon coconut oil.  Blended .  Couldn’t finish it.  Way too much butter.  Might be ok with 1 tablespoon. And I’m hungry an hour later so..... Of course I’ve noticed that since my whiskey hobby began a couple years ago coffee seems to hurt my stomach .

Not sure how you’d have time to make that in the lunchroom & 2 pm crash means something different over here.  Just throw a handful of almonds and dried apricots in a sack with a few chunks of cheese.  Swing through McDonald for a 1.10 coffee between calls.  Thanks for your service.
  • Drinking some on the porch right now.

I put MCT oil and butter  in mine and blend it with the immersion blender.

Usually dont eat until noon. My wife has been doing it with me for 3 weeks and is almost at pre kid weight. And it’s been helping me concentrate better in the morning.

Butter, MCT Oil, bit of heavy cream, and I’m square until dinner. Down 60lbs with Keto fun. BGE on the weekend and bacon all week!

Agree with the Keto folks above. A word of caution on the MCT oil though- wade into that pool slowly. There’s not a cop on the planet that can get his duty belt off fast enough if you get into too much of the stuff, too soon.
  • @CornfedMA ain’t playin. You can’t trust a fart for about a week.

@DFW I’ve been using brain oil and like it.  Figured I would skip the palm oil and save a rain forest tree.

We make it occasionally. But use a blender, and it will whip up like a latte.otherwise the oil will float on top.

U mind sharing your recipe ? How much coffee and butter... I will have to use coconut oil instead of MCT.

Yeah, I felt really alert and focused while I spent most of the morning on the toilet.

Which came first the chicken or the egg?  I egged the chicken and then I ate his leg.

I think coconut oil is a current marketing fad. I knew palm oil was supposed to be avoided because of the immense amounts of LDLs in it. Turn out coconut, a kind of palm, is pretty much the same.

Any rate, had a friend some years ago who was spending lots of time in Bhutan and Nepal, up in the Himalayas. Standard fare theere was strong tea w. yak butter in it. He said it took some getting used to, but given the extremes of the environment, was really good to keep energy levels up.

Maybe try some coffee w. CBD oil. Have to say, it makes my achy arthritic bones feel so much better, and does seem to be something of a pick-me-up. Unfortunately, its kind of pricey.

@gdenby that yak butter is how the whole bulletproof coffee thing got started. I guess they realized it was cheaper to do coconut and palm with similar effect in theory. (I’d be real curious to try yak butter. I think I could market “Fuzzy Cow Keto Butter”

@lentsboy007 sorry I just saw this. It’s a tbsp of brain oil or MCT oil, a tbsp of kerrygold Irish butter, a bucket of your favorite coffee, and any flavor of your choosing that’s not going to spike your insulin. (I have a container of Stevia, cocoa powder, cinnamon, and I toss a teaspoon of real vanilla.)

I switched to Pasteur raised cow ghee. Maybe the placebo affect, but I have better mental clarity than when I was using butter (kerigold fwiw)

@odie91 even if it doesn’t help with mental clarity (which I have felt sharper in the morning...but I have a second theory on that) at least it tastes great. And my mom came in the other day and said “I haven’t seen butter that pretty since your great grandma made it”

A good mentor and old boss of mine used to only drink coffee in the mornings before a morning sales meeting. Would push eating until late in the afternoon. He swore his predator hunting instinct was sharper and he was more in tune to the client’s behavior indicators.

I thought he was full of $hit but I tried it in my hunting, corporate, and military life and I got it. If you have a biscuit in your pocket my urge for focus and preservation isn’t as sharp.

Just google bullet proof coffee and use your coffee instead of theirs and get some MCT oil. I felt the energy boost but it also hurt my stomach and I really like my black coffee so even with really good unsalted ghee I didn’t like the taste I missed my coffee. If your stomachs can handle it I did feel an energy boost though.
