It's kind of a replacement for the plate setter but it doubles as reducing ring / heat intensifier / two-zone.  Without that upper plate, it funnels the heat to make a really freakin' hot zone, with a cooler zone around it; then with the plate on there, it's basically a plate setter without the legs in the way.  I never liked spilling a round kamado into semi-circles, just doesn't work as well as it could.  I think this inner circle / outer circle approach is going to work better. As much as I said "meh" on their "improvements" last year, this new Pro Joe looks like it has some potential game changers.
I would give $150 more just to have the stainless bands and handle. But Really like being able to go direct/indirect during the cook with a Woo and pizza stone. I would like to see KJs in action before I say yea or nea.
Same here!!  I played around with it a little bit, but didn't have time to see all the setups.  With how much taller it is, it's going to be interesting what they can do inside.  XL's have always been so limited on that.  Have to wait and see some YouTube videos of how it all fits together.  I'm sure CGS/Tom will find a way to make a much better aftermarket system for it though!!!!  :)
It would be interesting to see KJ partner with Tom and pay him for his IP.  Make it advantageous for him to be exclusive.  That would be the best way to convert Eggheads to KJ.
With Tom now being a BGE dealer, his partnering with KJ would be interesting.
With BGE axing a lot of dealers, he might have gotten “the letter”.

I've heard of, and met dealers who are upset with BGE and dumping them, but why is BGE dumping dealers?

Perhaps they had one of those management companies come and review the company.

So with dealers jumping ship, and BGE is firing another chunk of dealers - I wonder what BGE is planning?  I'm sure BGE knows what they're doing, but it sure is puzzling from my vantage point.

I hope they retool and start producing a line of BGE lawn darts.  I miss them.

No idea. I didn't get any explanation.  Just "we are terminating your dealer agreement......thank you for your business."  When I called my distributor, they refused to tell me why.  In all fairness, I don't know if this was BGE or the distributor that made the decision.

I'm not going to discuss it any further, because I want to get to the bottom of it before airing any grievances.
I hope I misread.  You are no longer a BGE dealer?

Seems like BGE is either alienating or just plain riding themselves of their best dealers. This is happening in our area too. Can’t see this going well for them.

If your dealer “disappears”, who handles warranty claims?  :open_mouth:
L and MM BGEs with JJGeorge tables, Mini BGE with carrier, other charcoal and pellet smokers/grills too numerous to count.

    You are unfortunately correct.
  • @stlcharcoal You thinking of going KJ or Primo or something? Or just doing charcoal?

The opposite is true of my area.  Anyone who sold KJ, went Green.  Now there actually seems to be an oversaturation of BGE dealers.  I went from 2 BGE dealers within ~30 miles to 6 dealers.   strange.

THAT is a real bummer! I still say ever since Ed Fisher turned over the reins to that new guy there have been some strange changes! I have to wonder if my dealer has gotten dumped also. Is your distributor out of Fargo?

i was on ceramic grill store website today and they have a photo of a warehouse full of kamado joes.

2 Large Eggs - Raleigh, NC

    Boiler Up!!

  • Was just at the store 6 days ago They are enthusiastic about the KJ's. Costco seems to have pulled back. Have not seen a KJ in a while there in Duluth, GA. AGC has all the KJ accessories as well. They said that KJ gasket will not work on BGE because the dome does not weigh enough and it needs the latch. I am a BGE fan and user for the past 17 years, but I went there to by a Yoder YS 640. I will still use my BGE, but it is a bit of a hassle to fire up a BGE XL to grill a couple of sausages. The Yoder can be used quickly and easily like a gas grill for a small job like that. Pellet Grills cannot smoke like a BGE.

One of my coworkers was looking at pellet grills so I took him there to check out the 640. If I got a pellet grill that’s the one I’d get.

  • when this happened to me i just dealt with the mothership great customer service few years back barbeques galore just opened a store in the area so i am good for now

my original dealer went out of business last summer. I had a warranty claim about a month ago (cracked fire ring). I just went to another dealer about a mile down the road and they took care of it with no hassle.
