for some reason i woke up thinking of this, have not even seen it on a menu in maybe 40 years, even took some time to remember what it was called. deep fried in packets of foil or paper. can you deep fry in parchment or is there really something called greaseproof paper in the supermarket

I have never attempted to deep fry anything in paper. Never saw the need myself. With that said, I remember seeing my grandmother “pan” fry bacon in a skillet on parchment paper. just something from the past, i havent seen it since i was a kid. some was in paper other places in foil. the meat didnt deep fry but it cooked fast. im going to try the parchment and the foil. my neighbors chinese and had a chinese restaurant before he found out seafood was more profitable, they had never seen it. looks easy, fold and envelope, fill it, tuck the triangle flap in, deepfry.SGH said:
