After being on this forum for a short while, I realized that I have no idea how I survived so long with all the wrong cooking equipment! To think I use to only own a glass grill and thought my ribs were good, ill be the first to admit I was very wrong!!
Im now debating on adding an outdoor griddle. I am in no immediate rush but can buy one tom if I could decide. It seems that everyone here likes the black stone. After some digging I see a lot of problems with the front drip (and a lot of solutions for that problem) I know they changed to rear drip but cant seem to find anything on that and how well it works or not. Also after searching the forum I only found 1 link to the Blue Rhino but it was just a hey I saw this at HD/lowes but no one said they have one or hate it other then saying it was a copy cat. With that said Im looking for something that would sit outdoors year round uncovered (I assume Ill have to get some sort of cover for it and saw the @Tspud1 use to not sure if he still does make covers). My uses for start would be BACON I cook a lot of a bacon (I now put them on a rack in a tray in the oven) but its messy and I have to clean my oven a lot as I cook a few pounds of bacon a week (yes im going to live for ever). Burgers and Vegetables, my wife doens't like her veg on the egg as she feels to smokey for her liking. Lastly big breakfast were not big on carbs but ever now and then we fall off the wagon and go crazy hence french toast pancakes english muffin all in one serving then we roll to the couch and nap, so it will mainly be eggs, sausage, ham, and BACON. I would like to start broadening my cooks so maybe this would help me not just be a 1 trick pony (L&S, Smoking, Grilling = 1 trick). I would love something that does not need a lot of upkeep as i am lazy at times and something that won't make a huge mess as it will be on my brick patio and grease stains the bricks and then the wife gets mad and im cinderella out there on my hands and knees with a bucket of water and a brush cleaning what never seems to come clean. (I think ill look into an outdoor mat as well to put in front of the grill)
So any advice or suggestions towards another brand would be welcome, and greatly appreciated
Thanks in advance for your help

Since it's going to sit outdoors uncovered I'd probably look for a stainless steel griddle of some sort that gets its heat source from your gasser.South of Nashville - BGE XL - Alfresco 42" ALXE - Alfresco Versa Burner - Sunbeam Microwave

I have the new BS, with the rear drip, and have had no problems.Central Valley CA One large egg One chocolate lab "Halle" two chiuahuas "Skittles and PeeWee"

Really like my BS. Seasoning it was a pain (IMO) but besides that it is awesome. You can cook a mess of food, really fast and not get your kitchen dirty.

Biggreenpharmacist thanks but a little smaller then I think i need but a great idea if im not going to go with a stand alone unit
SonVolt when I say uncover the area it is going is open to the elements but I would purchase a cover for said unit weather it be a fabric or metal is yet to be determined; I am assuming this would be ok but again you know what they say when you ass_u_me
jabam great how hard is it to get to the drip pan and how often do you have to drain it (im assuming and hoping just after every cook, not that it has to be done lets say after 2 lbs of bacon before you continue with anything else)
evie1370 Ive seen others complain about the seasoning but I think ill manage that, and if thats the worst of it Ill be okay.

For front BS models. Currently, until the release a surround for the rear model, I like the front, for the way my deck is situated. Mine is up next to my deck and getting to the rear would be a PITA.
The surround for the BS is amazing and makes better working space. I couldn't live with out it honestly. It helps that much for my working ways.
The front drip, you'll just need to order a little $15 max piece from Amazon and you'll never have a worry.
The covers, you can order from spud or the Blackstone one. I like the one I have, and have the Blackstone cover. It's light, so my wife can remove if need be.
Your kitchen will be much cleaner, but cleaning the BS can be a chore, but it's better to cook outside. Your inside will be much cleaner and not a stinky.
I have some YouTube videos cooking on my BS with the surround if you have an itch to watch boring content.------------------------------

anyone that has used or has both the rear grease drain and the front drain. From what I can find on this forum the front is still the way to go as long as you add the cheap amazon adaptor mainly because of the surround table not avail for rear drain and the fact that the rear drip tray does move and is harder to get to and dump and the loss of food that escapes into the rear slot and the fact that it is harder to clean the rear slot. The only complaints I have read about the front is the grease mess but pretty of hacks to correct so please let me know because I can pick up a SS front grease trap now as they are still avail. but I have no problem waiting for the rear ones if that is the way to goLong Island NY
