Caveman steak following a reverse sear- just because

I should apologize for the quality of pics, but the purpose here is to spread the gospel on a fuel induced Friday for the thick steak, (around 2 1/4 "Costco prime tomahawk ) reverse sear caveman finish:
Reverse seared to around 115*F-then full open the bottom vent and the dome.
Get a good quantity of lava flowing and go;

flip after around 45-60 sec to a different section of lava (hosed that pic) and then off for a banquet;

Armed with long tongs, a quick read thermo and an appetite.
Thanks for lookin'

    @KennyCJR - right on the coals.  Reverse sear til within a couple of degrees of your desired finish temp then straight on to the lava lump for the carmelized finish.  Temp may rise 3-5 *f with the caveman process but you can't beat the crust formation. The reverse sear caveman works best with thick (> around 1 1/4-1 /1/2").  If thinner then skip the reverse sear and straight to the lump altar.  FWIW-

    @Biggreenpharmacist - perfect for the flash finish caveman... thin are hot and fast for the duration as you well know  ;)

    looks delicious, even through the lens of your 1998 vintage digital camera.

    I would add to your excellent narrative, this is a good time to put at least one fire resistant gloves on.

    Outstanding Maverick.   (When in doubt, think of a Top Gun quote is my general rule).
    This is precisely what i wanted to do when I first got my LBGE,  but as yet haven't.  Tomahawks are harder to come by over here,  but - I'll give it a spin with a rib-eye next time Marks and Spencer run a deal on extra thick ones.
    Other girls may try to take me away
