Bitters (White Russian) I have the answer .....and the rest of the story.....

You may recall a few weeks back my inquiring about bitters in a White Russian. For reference  https://eggheadforum.com/discussion/comment/2310414#Comment_2310414

This morning I had a knock at the door and a package from the 3 letter shipping company lay on the front mat. To my surprise when I opened it, I found a bottle of the bitters and the recipe on a card inserted into a nice menu cover. Their concoction was hand written. The restaurant that my wife had the concoction at was Merchants in downtown Nashville. We had drinks there on our anniversary last August. When I had asked for the key ingredient, they asked for my address. This was maybe 2-3 months ago.....thus i thought this had fallen through the cracks. I want to tip my hat to Merchants and suggest that if you are ever in Nashville....you have a drink or few with them. Their customer service and attention to detail is unbelievable.

The secrete ingredient?

By the way....I should be getting laid tonight. ;)

Not sure whether I'd call it a White Russian or not (bitters and Tennessee whiskey in it?), but it sure sounds good!!!

Have been making them here with Tito's for many years. Looks like I will be going out and purchasing a bunch on new stuff going forward. This sure seems like the easy way though.

That is the traditional White Russian recipe.  Made many of em back when I was a mixologist.

They Kahlua and Vodka seemed to work for me up until that anniversary celebration. This year I think I will just stay at home.

All class right there. Robin after that text you got me thinking about Merchants today.

Might need to head down there in a few weeks when I'm mobile again and get me a dry aged ribeye and some oysters.

  • Their response is fantastic and if I’m in N’ville I will check them out.

But it with an ounce of whisky, that is not a White Russian.

I’m glad Sandys not on the forum. Our 47th anniversary is the 26th and Robin doesn’t need to give her any ideas.

It’s tough. Her birthdays tomorrow as well. I think we’ll go out locally and save Merchants for later this month. Merchants is owned by a really good local restaurant group.  Thank goodness we’re a bit farther away from Nashville - but i’m Old and slow so we tend to stay home and I get to use that new XL that found its way home with me one day.   ;)

  • @Possumtrot you can just nap to and from the restaurant.

You did it for 3/4 the trip to and from Butt Blast!  ;)
