Fate is such a cruel mistress.

I have had the same barber for 51 years now. He used to tell me I was one of his last 3 living customers since he got out of barber school after his hitch as a US Marine. Steve was a very active person, avid golfer, hunter and fisherman.

This morning I called for an appointment only to talk with his wife. The day after my last haircut he went home and had a serious stroke. He is essentially blind and they have closed his business. Prognosis is not good. He is now 76 and always said he would keep his shop open "forever" but "forever" came too soon.

After 51 years, I must suppose he was much more than just your barber. Reading around, there's a chance he will regain some vision, but will take months. Offer support to his wife if you are emotionally close enough.

Agree. Live every day like your last. Anytime spent miserable, is wasted time you will never get back.

Sorry to hear that @rpp, it is very true, we have only today. I'm sure your friends wife would like something off of your eggs.

On Wednesday I will attend the funeral of a 22 year old women killed in a car accident last week. She leaves behind a husband of one year and a two month old son. Absolutely tragic.

Visit him and let him know what he means to you.  You may only have a limited amount of time to tell him.  Life is too short to live with regrets.  Laugh hard, run fast, be kind!  Words to live by.

    Sorry to hear Ron.
