ThermoWorks has the Thermapen Mk4 on sale for $74.25 right now.  If you're in need of one this would be the time.

Honestly, you need to be able to cook direct, indirect and to temp.  I was in your place 5 years ago.  Have lots of "stuff".  If I started again with an xl, 3 things, thermopen (cooking to temp transforms your cooking if you aren't), woo and stone. Woo can be used for wok and other things.  Platesetter is 1 dimensional. Bge stuff is also overpriced if it has the brand on it.
