Work Potluck

Every several months at work we have a potluck. I usually just bring brawts and help heat/cook with the propane grill we have. This time I’m interested in spicing it up a bit.

What are your go to for events like these?

*I can’t do a pork butt another coworker brings it in religiously.

These: 1 can flaky biscuits split in half, 8 ounces cream cheese, 1/2 cup cheddar cheese, 8 pieces thick cut bacon crumbled, 6 jalapeños cleaned and diced. Put the biscuit halves in a muffin tin, fill and bake or indirect Egg at 350 until done or about 20 minutes +-. Makes 16. This was a double recipe.

Appetizer sized items like pig shots, moink balls, or wings are probably what I’ve brought in the most for potlucks.

I like dips, they hold well, in a crockpot.

A recent buffalo smoked chicken dip brought to work.  Crockpot liners are your friend.

You didn’t say how good that other pork butt is.  Maybe a little unofficial competition.  Make a killer pork butt, say oops, didn’t mean to duplicate and then move on to other things next time.  He’ll be stuck trying to measure up.

or you could do pork belly burnt ends. that would get people talking.

I get them at the grocery store, in the foil, plastic bag aisle.

    I'd recommend http://eggheadforum.com/discussion/1206776/franks-red-hot-shredded-chicken-and-alabama-white-sauce

It's fantastic! And pretty portable and re-heatable.

ABT's are always a crowd pleaser.  The filling and cheese can be varied to control the heat.
Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. # 38 for the win.  Life is too short for light/lite beer!  Seems I'm livin in a transitional period.

He’s been doing my it for decades and is thinking about opening his own BBQ joint so I doubt I’ll be able to compete. Plus he’s given me details on how he does it so I’m not burning bridges.

Those bacon wrapped dates look amazing. One of my neighbors made them or something similar for a pot luck we had years ago but I think she replaced the pistachios with something else.

    ABTs?
ABT = Atomic Buffalo Turds.  Aka jalapeño poppers.  Jalapeño (full or half like a boat) stuffed with cream cheese, wrapped in bacon.  Seen variations with different cheeses, pulled pork, or other stuff added.

Yep. I like to put a dollop of bbq sauce in the “cup” instead of cream cheese. There are all kinds of variations you could make.
