Hi All!

Long time forum lurker here!  I've been using the advice on this forum for over 2 years now.  Finally decided to join and contribute after I finally fried my factory gasket and needed to hit up Ron for a Rutland Gasket!

I've got a XL with a few accessories, grill grates are my newest addition.  This is my primary grill, even though I have an Akorn Jr for quick cooks.

Nice to finally have joined and looking forward to chatting with you all!

Since this is a Egg forum here is my last cook for Easter.  Smoked a 10lb turkey on the egg with Apple and Cherry wood.  It came out a little darker then I would have preferred but it was still extremely juicy and good!!  Big hit with the extended family who doesn't get to experience the egg on a weekly basis like the wife and kids.

Welcome!  Pretty bird!  Suggest that you add your city/state to your signature line so you can better connect with some locals.

  • Welcome. The Bird is beautiful, if you don’t like the darker skin, skip the cherry next time. Apple will leave it golden brown but cherry adds that darker hue.

I'll keep that in mind!  I always use cherry on pork butts and brisket, but didn't realize it actually made it darker, which on butts on briskets is a good thing.

On here just a few minutes and already learning lol  =)
