Is it really necessary to spritz your Ribs with water or apple juice?

Not as much so on an egg. It is an opportunity to layer flavor though. I have recently reverted back to mopping mine a couple times throughout the cook. Necessary no.

It's not necessary. I do like my ribs better when I spritz with apple juice. But not so much so that when I forget to pick up apple juice that I make an extra run to the store just to get it.

The Egg holds moisture well enough that the ribs won't dry out unless cooked way to hot/long. Because I like dry ribs better, I don't spritz so I don't wash off the rub and smoke. I do often at the end brush on a little oil/butter, and hit them w. another coat of rub.

No, I did initially, once. But, trying it without spritzing, returned as good, if not better, results."Knowledge is Good" - Emil Faber

I don’t spritz or foil. I let the egg do it’s thing. Maybe one day I will try spritzing, but I don’t see it as being needed on the egg. Also, I am lazy and don’t want to add any extra work to a process I think works pretty well.Pittsburgh, PA. LBGE

Spritzed initially. I don’t think it adds much at all.Sandy Springs & Dawsonville Ga

I wasn't able to tell the difference when I quit spritzing them, so I stopped completely. I don't foil them either. Naked all the way.Cincinnati, Ohio. Large BGE since 2011. Still learning.

Naked then spritz with apple juice/ cider vinegar mix after three hours. We like em like that!!!Canton, GA

I didn’t spritz today after I did last time we had ribs. Couldn’t tell a difference, so probably going to nix the spritz from here on out

I mop with Blues Hog Tennessee Red. It has some crushed reds in it for heat and sugar which gives the ribs a deep mahogany color. I always wait til @3 hours in. I don’t always do it and it is far more useful on nonceramic cookers.

I do not, but then again I'm lazy.

A spritz of apple juice always is a winner so why not?
-
I do, every hour, usually just water, per recommendation of Meathead, for better smoke flavor. The KBQ recovers so quickly opening and closing.BrandonQuad Cities
