The sope is a thick corn “tortilla” if you will. They are traditionally fried so they can hold up to the stuff you pile on top. The ingredients I used are very traditional. A schmear of refried beans, some kind of grilled or braised meat, and the veg/creama/quesa FrescaCarolina Q said:I've never seen or heard of these, but it sure looks tasty!
its Mexican fast food at its best.
Hey, my son is in Austin for SXSW. Said he went to Salt Lick last night and was unimpressed. He ordered pulled pork (shrug??) and received ribs, Said the beans were bland and the slaw sucked! LOL. But that it was a cool place! I told him nobody goes to Austin and doesn't order brisket! He'll be there a few days so I told him to try Franklin if he has time. Or Valentina's, La Barbecue, Mickelthwaite or Stiles Switch.I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

Ha! He's a brave man. I left town for the weekend. It's a zoo. Coming to TX and ordering pulled pork is like going to China and ordering Mexican food. If you Don't want brisket, get ribs (beef or pork are excellent down here) and/or sausage. If you don't like that, get chicken, then go to cole slaw, potato salad or a coke....if you don't like any of that, then get the pulled pork :lolCarolina Q said:

Sancho55 is at Valentinas right now. No line. Franklin will be insane this week with the hipster apocalypse that is SXSW upon us. All the places you mention above are excellent.Keepin' It Weird in The ATX FBTX -

@Carolina Q I’ve never known Salt Lick to even have pulled pork on their menu, maybe a little operator error there but he got the best of the Salt Lick, the place itself.. IMO most all beans around here are bland - some will be kicked up with jalapeños, but they’re more borracho beans, not BBQ beans. Sides are for the other people at the table to keep them away from the plate o’meat. Tell him to get some brisket somewhere (Valentina’s) and spend the rest of the time seeking out tacos.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER -
Thanks. Just looked at the Salt Lick menus and it appears that Round Rock does have pulled pork, but Driftwood does not. No idea which one he went to. He's from the northeast, maybe they just didn't understand him.Legume said:@Carolina Q I’ve never known Salt Lick to even have pulled pork on their menu, maybe a little operator error there but he got the best of the Salt Lick, the place itself.. Then again, I was scratching my head wondering why in the world he had ordered PP anywhere in Texas anyway! I already gave him a list that included Valentinas, but I didn't mention tacos.I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

Ah- I was just thinking this morning that I’ve been to salt lick 50 times and didn’t even know they had pulled pork. I only go to the original in driftwood though.Keepin' It Weird in The ATX FBTX

It may be 300. It’s insane. I can’t figure out where they all stay.Carolina Q said:200? My son thought it was supposed to be 300K! Doesn't matter, atsa lotta people! LOL, the town I live in only has about 29K! And no events to draw more. Thankfully.Keepin' It Weird in The ATX FBTX -
They don't "stay" anywhere... They're all in line at Franklin.

We started from scratch when we did the noggin and it was a piece of cake. Takes a little longer, but not much work. The Cen-Tex Smoker said:
