Well, a rare night in my house tonight....my wife and kids are all out (Disney on Ice.) So, being a red-blooded, American male, I thought that steak would be appropriate for dinner.[p]Here is the 2" bone-in ribeye I picked up at the market:[p][p]Here it is seasoned with salt, pepper and some garlic powder:[p][p]After cooking "old style" (aka: pre-T-Rex) at about 500 degrees for 22 mins:[p][p]On the plate (with a bit of vino to go with it):[p][p]Close-up:[p][p]An (temporarily) empty house, a big steak, decent cabernet sauvignon, and a hockey game......Every now and then you need some time like this to slow down and recharge a bit. Rich G,
That is an awesome display of a meal. I know what you mean about having a free night. I have a wife and two daughters and whilst we love our families dearly, the few times we get to ourselves we have to take advantage of it. No homework, no running to dance and gymnastics, no short order cook, i could go on. Enjoy your evening. Hold them closely when they arrive home safely.

They are home (very late) and I carried them from the car and put them in bed. Three very tired, very adorable girls. Mom is a trooper (albeit a nutty one!) to take them by herself to Disney on Ice.....[p]All is quiet and well here. Glad you enjoyed the pics.[p]R

Rich G,
It don't get much better than that!

Rich G, That steak looks mighty fine, cooked direct or indirect? Time and temperature seems long for medium rare.
I do not want to overcook the one I have. Thanks, Willie.

Willie,[p]That was direct. Used my dad's old rule of 5 minutes per inch of thickness, flipping every 5. The internal temp after 20 minutes was a little low, so I let it go another two, then rested for 10 minutes prior to carving.[p]Hope yours turns out well![p]R
