You know you're an Egger when...

You ignore the oncoming storm, and tall vodka drink in hand, you go ahead and put the wings on.  Check the temperature on the egg and run in the house to check on the 4 pounds of ground beef you have going for the lunch at work tomorrow.  All's good in the house but it's starting to rain, so in a moment of brilliance you wheel the egg so it's under the eaves, just outside the door to the garage.  Each step along the way is preceded with a generous draw on the vodka drink.  Storm hits, no worries, no thoughts of leaving your post - well, until the wind starts coming sideways from a whole new direction - "please stop".

Ok, run to the basement - squeegee the water toward the sump.  Run up and flip the wings.  Back to the basement for more squeegee.  Back to the kitchen to stir the chili!

Oh, it stopped raining!  Check the walkout - about 10 inches of water!  Grab a 5 gallon bucket, and bale about 50 buckets out of the walkout.  Run inside to get the sauce for the wings - stir the chili.  Sauce the wings, but get a pic for the Eggheads first...  Back to the basement...yada, yada, yada (as they say).

Almost nailed the cook.  Chili is perfect.  Snarfled 3 wings and fixed an extra tall, extra strong vodka drink!

Cheers, mates!

I never knew a basement was that much work. So I guess you are squeegeeing water in the basement because of the water in the walkout? Maybe it's time to add a sump to the walkout cause that's a lot of water.

First, thanks for the kind and encouraging words - greatly appreciated!

Oddly, the drain at the bottom of that walkout runs into the sump in my basement, then the sump pumps it back out again.  This isn't the first "flood", but I do think it's time that I came up with a permanent solution.  It might not have been 50 buckets, but it was enough that I had to stop twice to catch my breath.

On to the next cook - one more night before the girls come home!

Not an Egg, but I understand the thought process of dragging your cooker under the eaves so you can cook with a dry back!

When the going gets tough the tough get egging. That is a lot of water in that walkout, surely that didn't all fall directly into the walkout? Could it be be seeping/running back in though the sidewall? Damn, I'd roof that puppy in a hurry.

It fell, but not directly.  The gutter overflowed - totally my bad - I had the gutters cleaned out last fall, but failed to do it again after the spring leafing - beech, oak, hickory, walnut, poplar - they take turns dropping stuff all spring.  Some kind of roof is plan A.

Hey I think we have that same broom!   Sometimes I like to see what thread is about to "fall off" page 100. Most of the time it is a thread I missed.

you know when...you drive a vehicle proudly displaying custom made decals on each side of your rear windows that only another egghead would understand!

BTW you might ask if what I posted was correct...yes...one on each side so whether I was passing or being passed a true egghead would see it and understand the meaning!

sorry, but no I don't. I believe any people with the equipment called vinyl cutters or something like that can produce them. Just be careful about producing many, and stay under the BGE radar as this is a BGE design and they will want their pound of flesh if anybody makes them...

Kinda nuts, huh? Producing something to promote the BGE and they want to sue you if you want to help them!

Got to agree with you to an extent, BUT unless a person is blatantly ripping off a company in MASS for the purpose of making money via VOLUME I still wonder why go after "Violet and Vinnie Vinyl" for creating a few window decals. I recall the guy who made these didn't even charge me for them nor even the postage!

Probably something about if you don't protect your trademarks and copyrights, you forfeit them.
