What's the going price for fresh oysters in your market?
Seems like they have gone up another $2 to $20 a pint this year. We have a favorite Thanksgiving casserole side dish but $40 for that dish is making me gag! Is there some shortage this year that I missed the news about?

Ill let you know what they’re at in TN."Brought to you by bourbon, bacon, and a series of questionable life decisions."

I know that sounds small, but did your income go up 10% from last year?Legume said:So they went up 10% ?
I swear they were just $15 a pint here 2 or 3 years ago.Re-gasketing the USA one yard at a time -

Interesting pricing - but how many pints is "50 Singles" for $22?northGAcock said:$$22 for 50 Singles.Re-gasketing the USA one yard at a time -
Don't forget when figuring your cost on the singles to add $250 for your Urgent Care deductible when you go to get the stitches you need after shucking those suckers.RRP said:

Well, the cost of everything didn't go up 10%, which I guess would be a better comparison. It's a once or twice a year splurge. I'm guessing you spend that easily on a steak or two and probably have those more often. Just trying to understand if the $2 is what you were really getting all wrinkled about.RRP said:

This. 50 cents an oyster but exotic varieties(like puget sound ones) can be 1.00 per oyster. Pre-shucked adds to that cost, obviously. How many are you getting in your pint? I think the average around here is 20-30 oysters per pint so even 22 isn't a terrible deal, considering you're paying for the labor as well as the product.buzd504 said:$50/sack. 80-100 oysters. -
its the same for cooked shucked maine lobster, price is low for whole lobster at 5.50 plus minus a pound, but get it cooked and picked and the price jumps near 40 dollars a pound, highest ive ever seen it

I usually pay ~$45 for a 5lb gallon. Beware that not all "gallons" are created equal....hence why I prefer to buy by the pound. They have certainly gone up each year, though. The problem with a problem is that you don't know it's a problem until it's a problem, and that is a big problem.
