Let's keep the close to four letter thread burial words under control. I realize it is National Bison (aka Buffalo) day but no need to stress the system, whatever that is. Along with many around these parts, this weekend is for commemorating the failure of the "Gunpowder plot". What we would describe today as sectarian terrorism, albeit this particular one is from 1605.
"Bonfires Societies" are big cultural thing across Sussex, especially the rural parts (70% of the County) - the season starts in my home town in late September and then runs for a couple more weeks yet - with parades, fire and fireworks. It tends to be just fireworks and a chilly outdoor party on a Saturday near to 5th November elsewhere.
