A while back, someone made a very thorough write up about many of the simple things (well, simple for folks that now accustomed to BGEs). I cannot remember who that was though.

I suggest a stickie page. You will end up with the whole first page of the list filled with stickies. Boo- Hiss. IMO. All the stickies do is push relevant material to the second page and beyond. Having useful post in an easy place to find is great, just not at the top of the main page etc.

on freezing discussions at the top of the main page. This is what your bookmark option is for. Or @The_Buffalo could just create endless new forum categories such as a "Basic How-To" category or a "New User Info" category.

Hence my earlier response that the Buffalo just create a new category on the right. There can be endless categories. A "New User" category. A "Lump Charcoal" category. My vote is don't clutter new discussions on the main page.
