    I'm no electrician but I did stay in a Holiday Inn Express once. I believe that appliances like a refrigerator, which has a compressor, should not be plugged in to a GFCI plug. I would not change it since it might go to other plugs.

    How did I miss this thread?
    When I demolished and rebuilt my kitchen, I had to rewire everything from the exterior junction box, on in. If you have a very old home, be sure you check that.
    We were lucky (maybe not, in hind sight?), this old money pit, did not burn to the ground.

    So I replaced the plug and the circuit breaker and as soon as I plug the refrigerator invit kicks the breaker. Now it sounds like the compressor is kicking in and out and I think the extra amps is what is kicking the breaker. I guess it’s either replace the refrigerator or replace the compressor. Refrigerator manufacturer Date is 2000 but it looks great.
