How to lock up an xl egg?

Hello fellow eggers,
I am moving to the city with very small backyard space approximately 6'x20'. Behind this space is an semi closed alley where cars park. My concern is that since my space is easily accessible by car, how can I lock my egg up and feel more at ease. Although this is a pretty safe area, the neighborhood is new to me. I have a pole supporting an awning.
Im thinking to lock the egg to the nest using a cable and locking this assembly to the pole. Also thinking of fencing in the area with some heavy plants. Any suggestion?
thanks

Keep it loaded with lump and running 300-degrees 24/7 and you'll be fine.THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER

thick plants laced with barbed wire. ive never heard of an egg stolen in the 15 years ive been here. put a gasser next to it, they will probably steal the gasser

XL weighs 219 lbs. It is not really a drive up real quick and take it kind of an item. If they want it to be unscathed for resale or use, great care will need to be taken in this theft.
My only thought to make it less steal-able, would be to put it in a table. It is harder to remove from a table than if it is in a nest.Large, Medium, MiniMax, 36" Blackstone

Better be some corn fed boys that roll up and snag the XL and they better eat their Wheates too!kl8ton said:XL weighs 219 lbs. It is not really a drive up real quick and take it kind of an item. If they want it to be unscathed for resale or use, great care will need to be taken in this theft.

Eat not of it raw, nor sodden at all with water, but roast with fire; his head with his legs, and with the purtenance thereof. -

The results of that could be devastating....tarheelmatt said:Tether a huge dog to it. Like a mastif or rot.

I remember a guy having his small or mini stolen out of his garage in his alley. His egg was much more portable to steal though. Most people don't even know what the Big Green Egg is. So that eliminates a good portion of anyone wanting to steal it. If worried you could always throw up a camera outside. Run a bike cable around the pole and through the hinge (between the hinge and the egg) they could still disassemble the bands but this will act as a deterrent.~ John - Formerly known as ColtsFan - https://www.instagram.com/hoosier_egger

This will just draw unwanted attention. Can you put up a fence?

I've taken my vision grill kub (same size as a mini) to the drags. What I did to lock it up was run a chain through the top vent down and out the bottom vent and around something stationary. This way everything is locked, the top, fire box, fire ring, the hinge and you could even run it through the nest. Good luck.XLBGE, LBGE, MBGE, SMALL, MINI, 2 Kubs, Fire Magic Gasser

@SeanP his question was how to lock up his egg. $15 vs a couple g's.

Add a handler and the secure the handler.

Run a cable through the top vent, out the lower vent, and lock it around the pole. Get a cover for it, throw the cover over the cable going through egg, nobody will see the cable and will minimize the attention."Knowledge is Good" - Emil Faber

Yeah I can read, thanks. Maybe he can roll in inside and save "$15". As stated above, the majority of people don't know what an Egg is, adding cables or chains to it will draw attention to its value for even the lowest of low lifes. Keeping it out of sight is a good start. If someone wants it, they will get it.
-
Put it in a table and get an oversized cover they will not even know what it is.

You could set up a laser grid style security system like they had in Entrapment. Then, if your egg goes missing, you know Catherine Zeta Jones has it.

Thieves aren't smart enough to steal an egg…..they don't know what the hell it is and on top of that they are too damn lazy to lift something that heavy and work that hard for it.

My neighbor thought mine was a compost machine.

I doubt anyone would take it. Just have it in a highly immobile position and get one of those .357 Magnum stickers to put in your alleyway.

What about poles in the ground all the way around the egg? You could space them for easy egg access, yet no one could pass the egg between them.

I did something similar with Romanians - worked like a charm.
