Life mysteries......WTF Identification of vernon, rodent, insect........dead persons ashes?

In the corner of my garage I have a mystery that has been evolving over the last couple of months. Seeing how most of you are into identification and grilling....thought you may be of some help with what this might be. First, the garage sits on a slab (obvious), and the exterior of the area is filled in with pavers and hardened sand. The inside and out is covered by hardened substance.
At first look you might say: Ha Robin, why you dumping your ash in the garage? Well let me just get this out of the way....that ain't it. This is not leakage either from the Rockwood as you can see from the color. So here are a few questions if you have read down this far?

- Any clue what would do this type of thing?
- How can I get it to put it back so I don't have to clean it up?
- How do I make it stop?
- If it is catch-able and you know what it is, can it be cooked and consumed?
- How have you prepared it yourself ? direct/ indirect? Low and slow? sear?

What's under the "dirt"? Cracks etc.?
-
Ever seen the movie Tremors? Firstly, it should have won an Oscar. Secondly, I'm pretty sure that is the first sign of a Graboid infestation.
Good knowin' ya. -

Do you live near a prison? China? Greenhouse? Bunker?, Jerry Garcia coming to visit? I'm out of guesses.
I hope you can get it figured out. This place usually always has an answer. Sorry I'm no help"The pig is an amazing animal. You feed a pig an apple and it makes bacon. Let's see Michael Phelps do that" - Jim Gaffigan

I'm thinking you've got a drainage problem under your slab and the excess moisture is floating the soil through a crack at the base of the wall.

Looks like Kingsford ash. Care to come clean to the group Clark?Slumming it in Aiken, SC.

I have a similar effect on my slag driveway. My driveway is lined with railroad ties and in 2 spots I have a mound of small, and I mean small rocks and mud looking piles on both sides of the ties. Mine are caused by ants.

Looks like dirt, dust and ash blew under your garage door over time and accumulated in the corner.
-
Put a black light on it and see if it glows. If it does, call the exterminator. You've got an animal problem.

Time for a surveillance camera?

Looks like there might be moisture seeping through the wall due to the grout discoloration. (Black oval). The white circle looks like mud or clay. Is it holding moisture? Go outside to that corner and see if the grade is higher than the slab.

-
As for the moisture.....not sure this is common....and may be a result of Irma and her rain parade. Grade is below the slab. Have the pest control guy coming on Tuesday....but have to leave the wif in charge of that discussion as I will be traveling. I have not seen any aunts (or uncles either) but inclined to be leaning this way.DoubleEgger said:Looks like there might be moisture seeping through the wall due to the grout discoloration. I agree with @DoubleEgger on the seepage. Only thing that baffles me are the large rocks in that pile. I would have thought with them knocked out then their previous location would have left large holes in the mortar and been obvious to you. Besides that I wonder why so many are on top of the pile since rocks don't float to the top!

Robin, looks like a lot of work is needing to be done there. Send your Rockwood up to me and I will keep it out of the way until you get your garage situation resolved.
I think you need to look at the grade on that corner. if that does not fixit look for crackes in the corner and the floor. Fixable either way."Knowledge is Good" - Emil Faber

Little flex tape or flex seal and you'll be back in business. You can tape a boat back together or seal a screen door boat floor with that stuff.
