i joined the forum about 2 years ago after my sister gave me a LBGE for my birthday. Never became active because I wanted to build a table for my egg before I started using it. DUMB - Can't believe I let the egg stay In the box for 2 years while I built my table.
Anyway, I am now ready to start my eggudcation and I hope to learn from all you guys who have been doing this for a while. Please forgive me for all the dumb questions I may be asking. I am currently reading through postings. Lots of great information and I look forward to learning from everyone!

Mine wasn't in the box - it was in the table that it came with and I didn't cook for about 7 months until SWMBO asked why. I made some lame excuse about not knowing how to use it and not wanting to waste money ruining expensive meat while I learned. DUMB. Her response was something about wasting the money spent on the BGE and cedar table was worse than burning meat, so I found the forum and started learning. That's my eggcuse and I'm sticking with it. STILL was DUMBRandyC said:- Can't believe I let the egg stay In the box for 2 years while I built my table.

I was going to build a table first, too. 3 years, second egg, no table. Just cooking like a muhfudder, since getting my first one home. Looks bad, but I eat great. Dealing with it, one glass of wine at a time.

Don't feel dumb -- we all do dumb stuff sometimes! Just enjoy the Egg now that you're using it! I enjoyed grilling on charcoal and gas before my BGEs, but I never LOVED it until my wife bought my a Big Green Egg. I LOVE grilling and smoking on my BGEs!!! Welcome, and have a ball!
