While you can get green peanuts beginning late April out of Florida....going local is where it's at. No offense to my Florida brethren.....July is a great month for the local pender (nickname of the ball p-nut), and it has arrived. I know what you are saying, you have major events that hold the month to a higher standard like Independence Day, Ringo Star's Birthday, Bastiel Day (through that one in because I no Ron is all over that one)....and of course CANADA DAY. Well I am here to tell you the peanuts are done boiling and now ready for a good soak before serving.

Grab a cold one, eat some peanuts and y'all be cool.

@northGAcock -  Ball p-nuts are great but in your list of notable events in July you are missing one of forum significance:
July 29-National Chicken Wing Day.  Time to continue the year-round practice.
Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. # 38 for the win.  Life is too short for light/lite beer!  Seems I'm livin in a transitional period.

My brother loves to stop at the little roadside stands that have these things boiling in a big black kettle all day. He says the saltier and mushier the better. I don't care for them at all, tried them from several different places but no, never found one I like. There is one of those roadside places about an hour up in the mountains that has fried peanuts. Now those are good.

Lou.....I would have listed that one but there are those who remain bitter at the drop of the word wings. I can't mention Jason by name but he seems to be getting help.

Bring to boil in very salty water, let simmer for one hour, turn off heat and let soak for another hour or two.
I like mine with a little crunch to them.
They freeze well in qt bags, just warm em up and go again.

ha ha. Love the "ball p-nut". It's perfect.  Reminds me of a great retirement roast I was part of a long time ago for a guy from Alabama. His best work friend ran the roast and it was hilarious but the one I remember most was "Roy went to the airport last week and the guy asked him if he had any ID" Roy said "about what"?
