With the change in laws has there ever been a thread that started with " stopped by the shop and grabbed a $20 sack". " really like the stickiness and flavor of this strand". "Decided to twice smoke these twinkles and top them with powdered sugar". With like some rolling papers in the back ground?

Spent some time browsing and enjoying all the threads today and noted how a lot of us toss In What we are drinking.

How about " what are you smoking now? Thread lol.

I grew up in Indiana and it was illegal then and  now I believe. But it was socially accepted amongst a lot of the people I was around including my family.

It would just be a random check and I'd lose my Security clearance, and my job, so its not worth it to me (with utard's new blood-alcohol level, I can't risk attending any more winetastings, either).
But, upon my retirement in a couple years, I'll be making a weekend trip to Colorado next door, just to see what the fuss is about.  It can't be all bad (did anyone else watch the Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band special on PBS last night?)   =)    B)

The best man in my wedding lives in Denver now and he constantly sends us pictures of himself smoking weed. It just blows my mind he can sit on his patio and hit a bowl. He maintains it's better than Ritalin for his ADD.

I do think it will eventually be legal nationally.  Certainly that's the trend.  The only question is how long it will take us to get there.

While I can't use the stuff, personally I've yet to hear strong arguments against it.

If the fed gov would actually listen to studies it would be faster but at least legalize hemp. It's one of the most universally diverse plants when it comes to what you can make from it. Plus it's thc levels are so small it would take a heap load to get a buzz.

I don't smoke (bad for you), but I do vape as needed.  Four years ago when the docs wanted me to take Percocet for my headaches, i went and got my medical card.  At the ripe old age of 44 I went about educating myself.   Now I'm 3 years headache free naturally.  Funny story, a musician you would all know is a friend of mine.  Each time I'd go see him he'd try and convince me; often sending me home with a care package of brownies etc. Having a famous old guy baking me brownies always made me chuckle.

Not sure if I'm on board with recreational use, but it's certainly better for you than booze, imo.

To answer the question, Sour OG is my current strain of choice.

@TN_Sister_State  It wouldn't be appropriate for me to say.  He's retired now, and has to drag an oxygen tank around everywhere he goes.  Doctors told him not to smoke anymore, so he became an avid baker of "special" brownies.

As a child of the '70's I'm no stranger to this.  However the industry I work in has a zero tolerance for EVERYTHING!  I am subject to random testing, and I won't even use mouthwash before reporting for work. Noway I can risk how I suport my family.  But I'm only a few years to retirment and then.............................. B)
A little off subject my wife has sever fibro, and takes seveal meds that really concerns me about damage to  liver and such.  She tried the viel weed and it worked better than the scrips but the stigma and her beliefs keep her from taking advantage of it.

I think that slowly it is becoming more and more accepted as a drug that is on the same level as alcohol. So much so up here in Canada that come July 1st, 2018 it will be a legal substance with simular regulations to alcohol. We will be able to walk into a corner store and pickup some bud for the weekend bbq or to enjoy a joint after a pickup hockey game.
What concerns me is how they will enforce people getting high and driving and how they plan on keeping it out of the hands of teenagers.
I think that medicinally it is a great alternative to some of the other more potent painkillers that are typically subscribbed by doctors but I have some reservations about it being so readily availabe for recreational use.
Saying all that, I am around it quite often and will indulge on occasion (i.e.-ice fishing trips, golfing or hockey) but I am concerned for the developing minds of my teenage children.
I would happily have a toke with them on their 25th birthday ;) but I would prefer they don't try it too often before then!

Replace weed with alcohol or cigarettes and you have your answer. I'm honestly amazed at the "developing brains" worry when people still readily smoke cigarettes around pregnant women and children with the known health risks. It will be the same, though I believe edibles will have a larger share of the market since you avoid the risks of inhaling smoke. Teens still get booze and cigarettes even with current laws(weed too, for that matter) so I think presenting data to all to allowed for informed decisions will be best. We as a society aren't dealing with major corporations bent on you getting addicted for increased profits like cigarette companies. Knowing what we know, hopefully history won't be repeated regarding hiding risks. Since marijuana is a Schedule 1 substance, little to no research exists but the base will surely increase once that is removed and investment in research can occur at a meaningful level.

The owners of the Airbnb cottage we rented last week in Colorado didn't even attempt to hide their weed plants. It took me longer to find a beer bottle opener than it did to find their weed plants! =) I thought that was humorous

  • Times sure have changed.  Back in the day (mid 90's) I was appraising a farm.  In the back 40 was a pole barn.  I needed measurements of the building so I slowly rode my Chevy 4x4 down a farm lane.  I got over a rise and found myself in the middle of a good sized pot patch.  I quickly decided an educated estimate of the building's measurements off the aerial photography was good enough.

When I was a kid in the 50's living in the Bronx $3 got you a small matchbox filled with pot . I go to Vietnam in the 60's and for two cartons of cigarettes that cost $1.50 per carton or sometimes nothing(platoon got care packages from Red Cross ,church groups etc and they always had cigarettes in box)  you got a Kilo of quality stuff, called Cambodian Red ,we worked along the border .Smoked it in stripped out filter tipped cigarettes and huge pipes that were cut from tree limbs .  Came home in 1970 and was appalled at that fact that pot was going for $15 a Z and half of it was shake . Now it cost's a fortune for this designer stuff they are selling which in reality is no where near the stuff back in Nam. Put a fancy name on it get them gooey buds and people will pay whatever you ask .  Maybe I got spoiled but what goes for Pot today to me is like 3.2 Beer . Only good thing that came out of South East Asia was the greenery .
