How to clean or prep a ceramic chicken sitter.

I have used my ceramic chicken sitter a few times and the taste has been great but I have not found a good way to clean it. Does anyone have any advice or should I go back to using a beer can. Only reason why I bought it is because I don't drink many things that come in a can.

Take it and put it in the trash. Then spatchcock your chickens going forward.

Seriously though... Much better end product, imo~ John - Formerly known as ColtsFan - https://www.instagram.com/hoosier_egger

This. I have received two of them as gifts. Used them both just once. Easier to clean the spatchcock tool (shears or my favorite, a serrated slicer), the cook is more even and it's quicker.ColtsFan said:Take it and put it in the trash. Then spatchcock your chickens going forward.

Use a pineapple. Tender juicy chicken then you just throw away the pineapple core after the cook.

I use the stands when doing three birds at once in the MBGE. Stand them on their heads. The one I have is dishwasher safe, as is the two FoxRun metal stands.Delta B.C. - Whiskey and steak, because no good story ever started with someone having a salad!

I usually spatchcock, but I'm gonna give this pineapple sitter a try!Hntnhrd said:Use a pineapple. Tender juicy chicken then you just throw away the pineapple core after the cook. -
Hey brother, if you like it - use it! that being said, once you do get it clean and are ready to use it again, spray it with a heavy dose of Pam ... after your done, soaking it in a some Dawn should get it clean.I've slow smoked and eaten so much pork, I'm legally recognized as being part swine - Chatsworth Ca.

I'm in the camp that believes that if you already own it, then use it!
Not sure what brand you own but I have Willys Chicken Sitters. I have both regular size chicken ones as well as the Cornish Game hen size. BTW I did own the turkey sitter size but realized it would not fit and was able to return and get my money back.
as for cleaning it ... As was suggested before just PAM it! As for the very bottom - that is un-glazed and will never come clean!Re-gasketing the USA one yard at a time -
I'm in the spatchcock camp and have three unused chicken sitters (wire and ceramic) that I'll send you if you like. Boil it in water and wipe down. If that's insufficient then use oven cleaner. And gloves.Sandy Springs & Dawsonville Ga

I believe there is something on the Sous Vide site that says 190 Degrees for 24 hours...
