Kickash basket?

I own both the KAB and something similar to a high que, but have owned a high que in the past. The only appreciable difference between the two is that the KAB makes it easier to get the egg to cool down fast since you can pull the coals out of the egg. I bought it for tailgating due to that reason. If you don't tailgate with your egg, there is no appreciable difference in my experience.

That is one concept I hadn't thought of @Eggcelsior.   KAB prolly safer than scooping lava lump out of the egg with a big ladle.  I've done that and am being serious. 

I used to do something similar with tongs. Typically more exciting than the game.

It does everything a hi q does and much more. I can understand guys like John not wanting it because it's not a necessity, but if you are going to buy a hi q why wouldn't  you buy the superior product, KAB? That simple. Nothing wrong with either the hi q or fishbones imo. I don't really shake out the basket very often. It is easier to do a thorough cleanup if needed. It does protect the side air holes from clogging ( huge ). That said, I bet I'd like the hi q or fishbones too. Hell, I sell the fishbones product in my store. 

@pgprescott - I have much respect for you and your opinions but I'm goin to respectfully disagree here.  I've never lost a fire due to blocked air holes in my eggs.  I think (again I don't own) the KAB is a $60 accessory that can't be that different than $32 highque grate.

I will add that the side air hole issue is more of a high temp one. It is very unlikely to snuff the fire, it will however impede the egg from reaching high temps. This is a common  problem for many users. It limits the airflow enough to keep the egg from achieving its all.  You know, " why can't I get my egg over 350?" , Stuff. 

The first time, I did not have to stir the ash, and the appreciable portion of ash was shaken over the flower beds or the fire pit, from my XL, made the investment worth it to me. The first time using it on the MM, tailgating, made that cost reasonable to me, for not having to wait a few hours to get it to cool down. Air flow is great, keeps them cleaner, and makes them safer. Worth it.

I've used this one and had issues with air flow/getting the egg to temp - mostly because of the holes on the side of the basket I would assume. While the division factor is nifty, the air problem was a non-starter for me.

I also have KAB's on every egg but the mini (they don't make one) and I don't notice a huge improvement in airflow, I also don't notice a decline in airflow like I did with the HighQue basket (not the highque grate). I love the KAB for clean up reasons - I'm in the camp of cleaning my eggs at least once every two weeks (use them 4-5 times a week) and the KAB makes the process a snap. And I'm also in the camp of just dumping the lump from the bag.
