Leaving bbq guru outside in table?

So question for those on here who have a bbq guru or something similar.  Are these okay to leave inside a table outside in the elements?

Weather here ranges from -10 to 110.  Not sure if the heat and cold can mess with any of the components inside the computer or fan.

Trying to free up some space in my bbq cabinet inside the house.

Some LCD displays don't play well with very cold temps. The fan may have a small amount of bearing lube that might harden up in very cold weather.

A brief warmup would fix those issues if they occur.

Guess I'll just do it. If it busts then I'll upgrade to a flame boss.

Nothing would likely break. If an LCD display gets too cold it doesn't destroy it, it should work fine once it warms up to it's recommended operating range.

Same problem with some LCD's that get too hot. My trusty old Thermoworks TW-8060 can't be left out in direct sunlight. Too much direct sunshine turns the display black but put it in shade and in about 15 minutes it is back to normal and can actually read it again. Which seems useful in a thermometer. :)

Same thing with the fan. If it gets too cold it just won't turn but should be fine.

A Flame Boss also uses LCDs and fans and would likely be susceptible to similar potential problems at ambient temperature extremes.

I keep mine outside in a container but will most likely bring the container in as the weather gets near the teens. Going to build an insulated box if some kind for the really cold days so I feel comfortable using it on overnighters. We get to teens and single digits here pretty often and it cdn get to negative 30. Plan on doing a cook that cold just to see if I can pull it off.

I bought the BBQ Guru Carrying Case. It sits on the floor in our pantry. Works great.

If anyone needs a storage box for their temp control, here's a really good, low cost option:

Hmmm... I may get one of those.  Right now I'm just using a little 4x4 plastic box/bin I got from home depot.

I just store my stuff in one of those clear plastic clamshell containers that organic lettuce came in. Works for me.

I'll save you some of the suspense... you can pull it off.  The egg cooks just as well in the winter as it does the summer, the only difference is you freeze your nads off putting the meat on and taking it off.  I have cooked at below -40 deg C with zero problems

My old Auber Instruments PID controller didn't like cold Minnesota winters. I'd keep it in the garage and have to bring it into the house for a few minutes before using it for a cook during winter months. If super cold I'd have to wrap a couple kitchen towels around it when doing overnight winter cooks or it would shut off because of the cold conditions. I wasn't too worried because it's a cheaper controller. I've upgraded to a Stoker and will be keeping it indoors during the winter months. The Auber not so much

That is a great case, looks similar to a Pelican, at a fraction of the price.  Lots of uses.  Thanks for posting it.

I use a 1 gallon freezer bag with zip lock top. I keep my temp controller in the original box, place it in the bag, and keep it in the patio furniture cusion storage box. Temps here are cold only for a short time in the winter, Hot and very humid in the summers. 2 years, no issues. It does not do well in extremely warm days with direct sun. Works great at 10F though.
