Waiting to put some butts on. Heard my wife squelling. Walked over and saw a gila monster. Only the 3rd one I hsve ever seen.

I would rather light a candle than curse your darkness.

I like how you think! @Ozzie_Isaac
Just finished trimming and rubbing a couple butts from Restaurant Depot myself. I've had the butts sitting in the beer fridge the past few weeks waiting for a smoke. Nothing like a dose of sulfur coming from the cyro pack when opening. Woof! Rinsed a few times and the sulfur smell disappeared. Back in business. The butts themselves were pretty disappointing for fat content. I trimmed over 6 pounds of fat off the two butts. I'll give Restaurant Depot a second try for butts but if it's anything like tonight I'll stick with Sam's Club. I'm going to fire up the egg tomorrow morning more less to watch the Stoker do its thing and see if I run into any issues being my first time using it with a cut of meat. Should be fun watching the egg and Stoker tomorrow and maybe do some house work in between.

@YukonRon - thanks for the overly kind words. I have manners and etiquette class set up for the 3rd so that I will be on my best behavior. I am truly looking forward to the 4th and the chance to share BGE stories with like-minded folks. I definitely appreciate your graciousness (and your beautiful wife's indulgence) to enable this epic event to take place. Have a great day.Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. How did things work out with this event ? Hopefully you weathered the storm unscathed..Legume said:Just drained about 6" out of the pool, cleared drains, still need to clear a gutter and make a shallow trench to keep water from pooling next to the house. Getting a break now, but they say it's going to be rough tonight.
