Anyone hook their stoker to computer?

I've got a white box stoker. I've tried to hook it to my PC, my router, even bought a wireless bridge, but I cannot pull it up on my computer. It registers an IP address but network cannot find it. Apparently I'm not tech savvy enough, and I'm normally at work while Rock's is open. Any guesses?
On Windows10, using century link router/modem, and tried direct to pc as well.

Hooked up to the network and then powered on, you should be able to look up the IP address on the box and then pull it up on any browser with the IP address.

I tried that. I hooked it to laptop directly, no joy. I hooked it to router, no joy. Hooked it to bridge, no joy.
Whats strange, I went to update software. It said I was at .5. Checked version on Stoker and I'm at 2.6. I caught someone at Rock's before they left and they said it was the most current while website says 2.7 is. I'm out of my element at this point. Is there anyway to clear the IP and start over? Am I doing things out of order?
Otherwise I haven't had any trouble at all. Just ordered two more sensors and blowers for it. Now I'm concerned if I have the capacity to work it all out.

Unhook the ethernet cable from both devices.

Configure the stoker by cycling through the menu and ensure that the stoker is set for DHCP and is set to auto negotiate on speed and duplex settings

Configure your wireless bridge appropriately with the correct SSID and also set that up for DHCP.

Power both devices off

Power on ONLY the wireless bridge and ensure that you can PING the bridge from your windows machine.

Open Command Prompt from All Apps in Start Menu. Open the Start menu, and click/tap on All apps at the bottom. In All apps, scroll down and expand theWindows System folder, then click/tap on Command Prompt.

If you cannot ping your bridge then you need to fix that first.

Depending on your bridge you are using, you maybe able to type in the IP address in the internet explorer

Then power on the stoker.

It should pull and IP address from your router through the bridge. Try pinging the stoker from the windows machine.

I believe the stoker has a ping option embedded in the menu. Try pinging the bridge, then the router.

If you get reply messages your all set.

If not, you got issues...

I'm going to try to follow that this evening. Not sure how to check stoker for the DHCP setting but I didn't explore too much. I should be able to find it. Thanks for the help.

I got one, I've done it...........had to hire an IT guy to set it up...Stoker set up is most definitely not Plug And Play , and for the non Tech Person is overly complicated......I can easily hook up most things I have tried to WiFi,Stoker is like dealing with DOS based systems....My IP Changed at home, now my stoker is nothing more than an overpriced Digi Que....I have called for support, with 0 Response

I considered just getting the new unit, but it's going to be more of a novelty for me then anything. I've spent too much on my obsession this year already. I'm almost feeling guilty. Almost.

Cannot find DHCP setting or auto negotiate on this stoker. It's a white box if that makes a difference.
Cannot ping IP that was on stoker. Found what I thought was IP on computer. It only pings when I have stoker plugged in and turned on. When I go to that address it opens my century link modem.
Access point is working.
Dunno what I did wrong.

scratch that. It still pings with stoker off so it must be the century link modem. Stoker wont ping with its original ip address. I may just give in and get the wi fi version. This is beyond me.

If you wanted to use your netbook with your Stoker you can buy a USB-Ethernet adapter. They cost about $15-$20.

I can't even get the stoker to talk to the laptop when I have it plugged into the Ethernet port. I ordered another cable today that should be here tomorrow to eliminate the possibility of a bad cable. I tried two of them here but maybe the third is a charm. I pretty sure it's something I've done though.

I can't even get the stoker to talk to the laptop when I have it plugged into the Ethernet port. I ordered another cable today that should be here tomorrow to eliminate the possibility of a bad cable. I tried two of them here but maybe the third is a charm. I pretty sure it's something I've done though.

I don't know anything about the Stoker but some ethernet devices need what's called a "crossover cable" to be plugged into another ethernet device. Might check the Stoker manual to see if it mentions the need for that type cable rather than just a straight cable.

I hook my controllers on my eggs. The computer should already have a fan on it to keep it cool.

i dont believe this has anything to do with your stoker...if your network cannot speak to the wireless bridge, the stoker will never work via wireless...if you can get your bridge on the network....it's somewhat smooth sailing from there on out....

Generally speaking, directly connecting a device like the stoker to your laptop with an ethernet cable will not work. You would need a cross over cable. There are 8 wires in an ethernet cable, but not all are used. A cross over cable crosses the send wires on one end to the receive wires on the other end. You need a hub or switch in between if you are using standard ethernet cables. It does the crossing for you.

If you connect with a cross over cable, you need to manually set the IP settings on each device as there is no server to service DHCP requests.

Turns out bridge is working, but somehow that genius who hooked it up somehow renamed it to the name of the router?? ( My mothers only son manage that...)

Yes I did get non wifi to work with a cheap bridge adapter. It was such a pain I can't remember what exact combination I used. Finally just lucked out. Mainly just ip/ mac address stuff.

I talked to Rock's today. He's going to help me this afternoon himself. Gave me a few things to get started on before I call. I had given up and decided to get the wi-fi unit, would have been an easy sale, but he'd rather get me squared away. Very honorable.

@ BilZol - I was just getting my white Stoker up and running to test and report back. Sorry for the delay. Sounds like you are in good hands. I have the WiFi until and love it but keep the white Stoker as a backup. All I did was use an Apple AirPort Express that was set to join my network. The white Stoker plugged into that and it was on my network....no worries and no issues. I never tried to update the firmware because I sent it to Rock for repair (water damage) and while they replaced the parts, they applied the latest firmware.

Good luck and keep us posted.

I need to hook mine up to the computer. Only to redo Wi-Fi etc. We've updated the security firewall for my wife's office so it makes the Stoker go all bluey.

I've got an airport plugged into the century link. I'll try that.
May crossover cable is MIA from Amazon today so I didn't call. He said since my laptop was older it would prolly take that. He also said to change my first three numbers on my IP address to 255 and it would put it into (didn't understand the terminology he used) mode and it should get assigned a new IP address and it should be good. So, that's where I'm at right now. Prolly by this time next week I'll have the S2 on the way. Wife is begging me to order it because I'm basically a pain in the arse right now and she'd rather shell out the bucks then hear any more about it.
