I've been lurking on the forum since about February when we finally decided to pull the trigger on a deck and patio remodeling project. Basically out with everything existing and build brand new. Much larger patio for grilling, etc. As a part of the whole project budget I was able to talk the wife into getting a BGE. My logic was that our existing gas grill and smoker would need to be replaced because they were getting old and would look bad with the new deck/patio and that a BGE would replace both of those and would be just about as much as a nice stainless gas grill plus a new smoker. She's a great woman - she agreed. :-) I've had a deposit down on one since mid June. The BGE dealer about a mile from me agreed to get close to an eggfest price on an XL and platesetter so I pulled the trigger before he could say no and I would have to drive over an hour to pick up an eggfest BGE. Going to pay the rest tomorrow since the concrete guys finished the patio yesterday. It should be a nice place to grill and entertain. MUCH better than the old setup we had - small patio and tad bit smaller deck than what we rebuilt.
I've gotten some great ideas from the forum on accessories, techniques and recipes. Can't wait to try them out. I kind of got the cart before the horse on the accessories but b-day presents, etc. are always good for BGE accessories - even if you don't own one yet. Here's the list so far, it should give me a good start and be able to hit the ground running. :-)
Plate setter lifter
FB200
Smokeware chimney cap
looftlighter
grate lifter
kick ash basket
cast iron half moon griddle
cast iron grate half for XL - may pick up another half when I pay the balance tomorrow
couple bags of FOGO
bag of Rockwood
pizza stone
some fire bricks to lift pizza stone up
Thermapen
Already have the table made and ready to set in place. Can't wait to start using it!

Some eggs are very lucky to be adopted by parents like you.....nice looking patio.Delta B.C. - Whiskey and steak, because no good story ever started with someone having a salad!

Table is in place. It kind of gets dwarfed by the patio. I think I may have gotten carried away with the design. Oh well. Better to have too much patio and not need than the other way I guess. Egg is being delivered tomorrow afternoon. Too bad I have an evening commitment. May fire it up Wednesday.

Great build and set-up right there. And a ready built area, rain protected as well.
Welcome aboard and enjoy the journey. As you are well aware, this site can easily separate you from your $$. Dealer delivered my BGE this afternoon and got it setup in the table. Now it's time to play with temp settings, etc. Going to attempt a spatchcock chicken this evening for the inaugural cook I think.

@northGAcock
No, too low of a space. We wanted to but would be hazardous to everyone's health. We could put a table directly underneath to prevent people from walking underneath the fan but decided not to.XL BGE & Pit Barrel Cooker

Very nice setup. I am not sure that you will need all of those accessories, but do what you want to. I use my ash tool as my grid lifter. It works great. Looflighter will die in a year or so. I recommend a MAP torch.
I went with the Hi Que grate instead of the kick ash basket for both of my eggs.
I do highly recommend your Thermapen and Rockwood purchase. Welcome to the family! We are glad to have you.Louisville, GA - 2 Large BGE's -
