I use the electric starter for my BGE.

I use a chimney for briquets in other contraptions or with my cast iron dutch oven

Lighter fluid or match light briquettes.   Depends on my mood.  Sometimes both.
When I want extra flavor I use the 2-stroke gas/oil mix for my weed wacker.

And if you're really wanting to take the cook up a notch, might as well use those grass clippings for smoke

The chimney is a great way to start a Weber kettle, but totally unnecessary for an egg IMO. Just put the lighter cube in the egg. I also think you waste lump that way. The difference between the egg and Weber is you need all the coals started for the kettle and only a little bit for the egg. I like the starter cubes, the electric lighter and the torch  methods. I use whatever trips my trigger that day.

I could be off by miles, but I think the anal opening leads to a tunnel ;)
Not miles....in hindsight I should have phrased that differently.....haha

I am currently using a chimney to start my fire where I add some small wax firestarters to ignite the charcoal.  I like to hear how the more experienced Egg users start their fires.  I welcome the advice.
I used to use wax firestarters (never tried a chimney).
I've been using a Looftlighter for a few years (I've since thrown out any remaining wax firestaters)

Many here use MAAP or Weed-burners, but since my Egg is close to an electric outlet I prefer the Looftlighter.

Just picked up some fireworks on sale for july 4th coming up. Gonna stock up on black cats, those get the fire 'crackin' pretty quick, not to mention close to triple digit weather daily here in Tx  ;)

I'm surprised there was only one vote for using an electric starter.  Love mine, plug it in go inside to prep and when I'm ready to put the food on it's ready.
