I don't think so, but for $54 the Javelin leaves you a lot of money for jellybeans

Should try thee new and VASTLY IMPROVED search function. For reals - it's blazing fast now.

I have a few Thermapens and a few Lavatools. I like them all but I do prefer my Javelin Pro to my Thermapens.

I bought a couple of the smaller units in early 2015 when they were calling them "Thermowands". One of them died a few weeks ago. Apparently some of the early models had problems with the switch when you pull the thermometer out to start measuring - the unit would not turn on. Emailed the company and they sent me a new one. No hassles.

My pen from Sur La Table is fast, accurate, repeatable and easily seen.

Same button configuration as THIS, but not advertised (don't remember) as waterproof and it is not backlit.

For 20$, why spend more? Check cold point with ICE and high point with BOILING WATER. If +-0.5 degrees at each? Do Not Worry.
