    $300/month... that's pretty good.

I think my wife might be skimming.  We spend ~300/week.

Just my wife and I right now, both retired, north central Indiana. Food is generally pretty low, $70 - 80 wk. Beer, well, varies widely. Started drinking craft brews some years ago. Its hard to convince myself to stick w. Rolling Rock after I walk by a shelf of Imperial Stout.

Holiday meals throw a spike into that average. Possibly $25/wk accumulating and spent on 5 days.

FWIW, my elder daughter and SIL are doing poorly enough that we are also buying food for them.

Looks like I'm about average, 250/week for 4.5 people (1 is here only a few days a week, or I guess I'm sometimes the .5)

Way to much... I don't know exactly but just for the weekend, I purchased for 150$ of meat.  It's not always like that...

As messing around with the BGE is a hobby I don't pay attention-I do know I am reasonable with the spend for the most part.  I will splurge with SRF buys but I have not crossed the SWMBO line in that regard.
Now beer and bourbon buys elevate this conversation to a whole new plateau.  Happy Father's Day to all for whom it applies.
Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood.  Life is too short for light/lite beer!  Seems I'm livin in a transitional period. CHEETO (aka Agent Orange) makes Nixon look like a saint.

    Interesting and true story:

In 2015, March, my son turned 8. He wanted pizza on the BGE. For his family birthday party that had 20 guests, 24 total with us, here is my ingredient list and cost:

    2 bags KA AP. $7
1 lg bag shredded mozz: $9
    1 onion: $0.50
    1 packet of yeast: $0.33
    1 green pepper: $0.65
1 can sliced black olives: $1.25
2 large (32 or 48 oz) cans whole tomatoes (for sauce): $6 (costco)
1 lg tube of ground pork: $5
1 small jar each of fennel seed and red chili flakes for the sausage: $7 total
1 packet of sliced pepperoni: $5
1 bag shredded parmigano reggiano: $12 (costco)
    1 can artichoke hearts: $3
    1 can mushroom slices: $0.99
1 roll of buffalo mozz: $6
1 40 lb bag el diablo charcoal: $12
4 sprigs fresh basil: $0.00.   It grows in our yard
    1 box frozen spinach: $0.99
    i bottle EVOO: $6

All ingredients were from Safeway, unless it says costco.  on the spices, flour, oil, charcoal and large bags of shredded cheese there was a lot left over for future sausage making and pizza making or other cooks.

For $83 or so we made 15+ pies of all different sorts that people went crazy over.  Plus there was a ton left over.  had we ordered 15 pies from a natl discount pizza place, cost wouldve been similar but the food would have been miserable.  If we went to a nicer local pizza place, coust would have easily been double

Now, it does take practice making pizza but once you get it down, bge elevates you to rock star status....

It's good to know that we aren't too far off. The wife spends about $200 week at Publix and Harrys Farmers Market for the two of us. I always thought that was astronomical especially when she told me that she never looks at prices.

Today I bought two slabs of ribs, tomatoes, and two bottles of booze. 100 today. Booze is expensive, but worth every penny.

Roughly 1200 a month, or ~ 270/week for four of us, but that also includes buying some of the essential household items (TP, laundry soap, etc.). Mind you, there are times when it is higher, and this does not include the times we do venture out to eat when we are too busy, it is too late, or we are just too tired, or if we are out to eat for some occasion - for this, a separate line item on the budget exists.

@DoubleEgger, many years ago we started buying 1/2 a cow and pig, if I had to guess that would add 75-100 per month to our spending

Publix, Costco, Freshfields Farm, Fresh Market and Walmart neiborhood market.
Obviously not all each week. Checked out Trader Joes last week too.
The bulk of meat from Costco, I get around.

Agree. My grocery bill is the same as buying heating oil and propane. Can't really do much about it. A weekend cook with salmon and ribeyes will set me back $60.00. Booze? Another $40.00.

I think some may not realize how much they spend. I don't have much debt these days and when I was young I didn't have any money and lived week to week and ate the cheapest crap you can think of to make ends meet. Now that I have low debt and can spend whatever I want on food I do. My $200 number is ballpark and likely on the low side.

My tastes have changed, likewise appetite. Have only posted a few pics of my cooks in the past year because they're just really boring. Today was hot dogs. Couple of days ago, slices of pork loin from a whole loin at 1.99/lb. Big cook last weekend was a couple of cornish hens. Did bother to try and make mole from scratch. Not so good. I suppose to be honest I'd have to add in the cost of driving around trying to find all the ingredients, and mostly failing.

I'm guessing that I spend somewhere around $300/month, especially in the summer.  It's hard to tell because I generally buy bulk quantities and let the foodsaver buffer the shock.  I'm not sure I really want to know.

600 a month for my wife and I. That's food and drink. We have a separate restaurant budget that we pay in to. Go Dave Ramsey!
I live about an hour south of DC and we spend 150 a week for my wife, daughter and myself shopping at Wallmart. If I goto Wegmans it's a good 225 a week if not 250.

Eating out is what destroys my budget at 30-50 bucks a meal. May have to convince the wife to set up a seperate budget for resturants.

This is probably true.  Myself I track every penny in Quicken and can get the answer in a few clicks.

We spend $150-200 per week for a family of 3. But that's everything, even household supplies like paper towels or toilet paper. We eat 95% of our meals at home - breakfast, sack lunches and dinner. We have a $50 budget for restaurants every 2 weeks that we barely touch.

Might be around  $200 per week for 3. Haven't really calculated it out to an average. I buy a few packs of steaks or ribs from Costco and freeze them. I'll buy a couple cases of beer, some wine, liquor and those will last varied amounts of time. I usually just drink beer on the weekends. Different people shop for whatever they are cooking that week. Also changes if there's guests of course.
