You don't have to go that high. I have a base level model, was about $60 and does all I need and I use it a lot. Depends some on your anticipated usage.Sandy Springs & Dawsonville Ga

Keep an eye out on them. Somebody will always post on this forum a deal somewhere. Possibly slickdeals or Amazon. I bought mine on Amazon a year or so ago as a result of a post here.

I saw a big game model last winter that was half priced but still at 200. Would be awesome to cut/slice/shred a butt and save it all in one bag. Maybe that's a horrible way of doing it. But it would be nice to have different cooks frozen then reheat sous vide while on vacation (chicken, pork, brisket),

No need to spend that much. I have the FM2100 and I think I paid $100. Buy lots of bags. I prefer the rolls so that I can make my own size. Happy packing, you'll love it~ John - Formerly known as ColtsFan - https://www.instagram.com/hoosier_egger

I think I paid around $10 for mine on Craigslist. People find that they don't ever use them and end up selling them for cheap"The pig is an amazing animal. You feed a pig an apple and it makes bacon. Let's see Michael Phelps do that" - Jim Gaffigan

Got ours at Costco during a road show. I think it is the midrange, bought it for $70.00. Use the heck out of it. Great product."Knowledge is Good" - Emil Faber

I have this one from Costco and like it a lot. Incredibly easy to use and also has some nice options that I admittedly have yet to take advantage of (maybe that's a sign that all I needed was the base model). Costco was regularly offering $30 rebates for these, taking it down to about $120. Works great for me.Stillwater, MN

$60 costco offering for me as well.
FYI - bags are cheaper by the roll from amazon.

I bought the $150 one form Costco. FS bags are way too expensive. I buy from "The Sweet Attack". I cut my bag costs in half.

I like the quart size bags. Amazon has them for $.21/bag.

I like Foodsaver, I have the auto V3840, must be at least 4 years old. Has an accessory for marination, very useful, or sucking air out of not finished wine bottles - that never happens at my house.
Five pound blocks of cheese can be cut up into more manageable size vac packed and last in the fridge for months.
Preseason tri-tips or other meats, even pre-sear, then into the vac bag and into sous vide. You can even freeze the seasoned, seared, sealed roast. Bring it out of freezer and right into the Trés Booblay. Similarly, pulled pork into serving sized bags and freeze, drop into the SV to reheat for quick easy meals.
Lesson learned with old GameSaver is to put four or five frozen chicken breasts or chops into a single bag. Cut the bag open, take out what you need and then resell the bag - saves on bags.
For liquids, either into the bag direct, freeze (carefully stand up in freezer) then seal or freeze in Solo cups, pop out the frozen plug into a bag and seal.
@hondabbq has good point about keeping your eyes open for bag sales. Must admit, if Costco has a sale on FoodSaver bags it is hard to beat, often <$30 gets you 40' of 8" rolls and 80' of 11" rolls. There are lots of other sources.
These are not commercial machines. If you seal one end from a roll, fill it, then vac seal you can do lots of bags. If you try to seal bag after bag the machine sealer unit will overheat and simply will not work. Give it a little time between seals (time it takes to fill the bag) and it will run without issue.Delta B.C. - Whiskey and steak, because no good story ever started with someone having a salad! -
ive had a couple, no reason for an expensive one, they dont hold up any better than the cheap ones unless you go overboard for a chamber sealer
and someone you know has one hiding in a closet or attic in the origional box, ive had a couple but have only bought one

I have the FoodSavor V3240 that I got on Amazon last year for $80 but is usually $119. It works well for me and I can get extra bags and rolls at Sam's when I need it at a good price.

@tonyled, have you purchased from https://foodvacbags.com/collections/bags ? And did you buy Weston, Vacstrip or their house brand? Their FoodVacBag brand is the cheapest I've seen anywhere. And they're 4 mil bags, not 3 like all the rest (though I don't really think that matters). Just wondering if you were pleased with the company and their bags. Thanks!
I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

yep i swear by them. i bought the sampler pack of the house brand bags. this one to be exact:

a year ago i would have told you no pints are needed but now that i have my anova sous vide i think i go through the pints much faster -
Costco has the V4980 on sale like every other month for $119. I believe it can use the resealable bags which would be nice.

@Shiff, Thanks, Barry. At the moment, the sizes I usually buy are cheaper direct. But at the moment, I don't need any anyway.
