My First Cook on the BGE XXL, WOW!!
Hotch
Posts: 3,564
We, being Shelly, myself, Kelley and Bruce, were posed to cook at the First Annual McKinney Eggfest last Friday. I received an email late Wednesday evening that the City had decided to cancel all of their sponsored outdoor activities due to the inclement weather predictions. (Bummer)
So with Kelley (@EggObsessed) and Bruce (@NoJokeSmoke) coming up from Austin to stay at our home for the Fest we needed to come up with plan B.
Well we came up with a plan. I sent an email over to Chris at Paragon Distributors (The best damn BGE Distributors anywhere) and pretty much said we are coming over on Friday around 1:00 or 1:30 to cook on that great new outdoor deck you have This is for all of the guys and gals that work at Paragon in appreciation of all that they do to support us and the dealers at all of the EggFests. Just roll out a couple of Eggs and we will take it from there. He replied, Come On Over!
Shelly and I had a round or two of my amp'd up "Scotties Balls", a power version of @SGH sausage meat loaf. Next up we did a round of our Margarita Mine Cones. It is a Margarita cupcake mix using Tequila instead of water in the cake mix and a few other things. With a Tequila and powered sugar glaze on top.
When we got there, I went looking for the BGE's. And what I found was the grand daddy of all BG Eggs, The BGE XXL.
Hell yes I'll cook and that!! Leaving the Large for Kelley and Bruce. (Which is what they needed to cook on anyway) So below are a few pics of great time we had time cooking at Paragon last Friday. Big thanks to Chris, Greg and all of the Paragon crew!! (No salesmen were feed during this cook!! lol They were all out working their butts off)
Thanks for looking.
Getting things setup

Scottie's Balls going on the XXL! (This was a breeze to cook on!!)

And the finish
For @SGH Scottie

Next up the Margarita Mini Cones (Sorry no pics on the XXL, Got to busy talking!)

First one is GONE!!

Next it's time to the walk around and serve them up...

We had a great time, and we will do this again!

I will ask Kelley @EggObsessed to post pics of their cook once they get back home to Austin and rest up a bit.
That said, I will just leave you guys with one picture that speaks a thousand words on just how much fun we had over the last 4 days. They cooked this at both Paragon Distributing and at my home (pic below), for my lucky neighbors that answered the the BGE callout!!
Thank you to Kelley and Bruce.

Thanks @SGH. We had a lot of fun over there.
I gotta say that XXL was no different to cook on than my Large BGE. Temp control was breeze. I could see one of these in my future if a deal was to be found on one!!

You guys are sump'm. No one I know of but you would think to do something like that. What a treat for the folks at Paragon. And what fun y'all had cooking for them.
Wish we could have joined you.
Great photos too.

Thanks Leroy. Funny thing is on the way home Shelly got a text from the neighbors, " I hear you guys are Egg'n tonight, what time?"
So we did round 2 at the house Friday night!!

A bit of Bruce's handy work

I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

Well, no one said it'd be easy! And your epic road trip would be broken up with an eggfest in the middle.
IIRC, last year they had the demo XXL on Craislist for $2600. -
