Simple Veggie Cook (for that Commie, zippy)

Not very pretty or picturesque but fast and easy. And good

two huge portabellos go gills down close to the lump. Rub a little olive oil on the back. When they soften, you flip them gill side up, on a raised grid (or even indirect if you can). Then add a generous amount of tapenade, salt and pepper

my wife's (near camera) had a tapenade she made of garlic stuffed and lemon stuffed olives, pkus hot pepper. Mine was a store-bought tapenade. I topped mine with cheese also

they come off directly onto a bed of greens and then drizzle everything with good olive oil and balsamic vinegar

the huge portabellos are steak-like and meaty. But it's a good vegetarian meal (which ain't always the case)

funny though. Now i feel like buying a subaru and becoming a semi-retired italian lawyer type

Looks excellent buddy. All kidding aside, grilled mushrooms are one of my wife's all time favorites. The other being country style ribs. A strange combination for sure, but she loves them. Again, it looks great.

  • Nice looking meal. Great to see you posting your cooks. I've enjoyed many of stikes posts/cooks but Darby's cooks have been seldom. Thanks for sharing. Keep them coming!

they look excellent.  Thinking back to that recent vegetarian thread, the idea of trying to make a 'burger' out of veggies... type thing.  Never happen.  But as a replacement in the summer grilled dinner rotations giant portabellos are great, 'specially with melted cheese, caramelized onions & sriracha or chipotle mayo; coincidentally had a portabello/black bean/quinoa puck tonight.

i made no such hurtful comment.  how many times did we argue about buying tangerine vs orange san pellegrino before we simply decided that it was no use?  that is simple fact.

this will be my final word.  i shall not respond! good night!

oh we fight.  like caged cats.

we start out in the classic boxing pose. in long johns.

but it quickly devolves into a slap fight.  then wrestling.  and then a lot of crying. the good kind, the kind that lets it all out.

i said i would not respond, but i can't hold my tongue.... you always read too much into things.  and then you are silent on the whole ride back from the therapist's.

one day there is a gift on my pillow.  the next there's a list next to the coffee maker, after you have already left for the craft shop (well before it even opens, don't think i don't know), of all the things wrong with me that you feel i need to change.  "could dress better", "your friends don't think i smile enough", "always drinking"...

then when you get home it's "where shall we go for dinner" like none of it happened.

    an emotional roller coaster.

there.  i said it and it's out there.  tell THAT to your new friend Kevin at the hardware store.  you seem to spend so much time there.

i am done and will not reply.
