Just curious.....
Has anyone waxed their Egg? I've seen one previous thread proposing the idea, but no confirmation anyone (other than me) has done it.
Haven't done it with my brand new current Egg, but did it with a previous one using a high quality synthetic car wax and there were no discernible adverse effects; only positives.
In my experience, it provides a beautiful shine, keeps water rolling off and keeps soot and grease from sticking to/staining the glaze. I would imagine that waxing the portion of the bands not making contact with the Egg itself (as doing these may reduce friction and ultimately result in slippage) may be beneficial in that it may prevent rust from forming (by way of preventing moisture from accumulating on the metal).

I have never waxed them, but I do keep them pretty clean with a wet rag. I don't like to see them dirty.

This is total BS. It is well used, cranking out delicious food meal after meal. Let us just say it is certainly "well seasoned."bgebrent said:johnkitchens said:

Wet rag to knock off the tree spooge / pollen during the early spring. Stubborn spots get cleaned with a light spray of simple green cleaner.

I let the rain keep it clean on the outside. Been getting a lot lately so it looks good. I don't think it needs to be waxed, but if you want to knock yourself out.XL, WSM, Coleman Road Trip Gas GrillKansas City, Mo.

It's dusty in Phoenix. I usually hit them with a feather duster when I check on them before bed.
Seriously though, how does the wax react to a clean burn or pizza cook?

This has been popping up around here ever since I joined over 2 years ago. It can happen, especially if you don't cook on it for a while from what I have been told.thetrim said:

JIC's MM looked well abused, neglected and almost unusable. After @Nolaegghead took @Tarheelmatt's torch to it, let's just say it was functional. And then, John turned out the most amazing pulled pork pillows off that unit, epic recovery. Still his "big unit" needed some tlc.thetrim said:Can someone expand upon John in Carolina's MM story???Sandy Springs & Dawsonville Ga -
