I just bought a Lodge cast iron baking pan from Amazon. Bought it mainly to make smash burgers on the egg. When I opened the box, I noticed the pan has a divot in one spot. Do you all foresee this being an issue? Would you guys return this or keep it?

Check with Amazon, they might send you a new one without having you send that one back. Might not be worth the shipping to them.They/Them

Lodge QC must be slipping - that's a second, though I'd just keep it myself as it won't hurt anything you are cooking with it.Re-gasketing the USA one yard at a time!

Brother, I know it's just one man talking here, but I would put fire to it and not give it a second though. That's just me though.

IMO, Unless you can infer some sort of consequences resulting from the divot, I don't see the downside to keeping it.

I was more worried about pieces of food getting stuck in that area, especially with smash burgers. Regardless, the sages have spoken. It's a permanent member of the family now. Thanks for the quick feedback.Indianapolis, IN

Just think of it as a potential gift to your tastebuds - a delicious and most-welcomed flavour pocket where oil and seasoning can collect.

Mine was even more defective. Had some kind of metallurgic rippling where food could get stuck and stuff. I ended up keeping it, because, well, I'm crazy.

I just picked up a 16" Cabela's cast iron pan for smash burgers on the large. On sale for $32. It's not a Lodge but I think it will do the trick. Plus, it's 1/3 the cost of the Lodge 17" which doesn't fit in the Large due to the handles.XL BGE; Medium BGE; L BGE

I would be worried about a hot spot in that area due to the cast iron being so thin there. Send it back and demand a full refund!1 XXL BGE, 1 LG BGE, 2 MED. BGE, 1 MINI BGE, 1 Peoria custom cooker Meat Monster.Clinton, Iowa
