My XL table build

Hello good people of eggland!

Recently my beloved XL egg got a friend named Mini Max from my pregnant wife. Having had the egg for about three years I have dicided to build a table for it.

After much deliberation and pestering you with questions I bought a table top which determined my size of 71" X 36" (Anyone want to buy a BGE Table cover? Never used, won't fit my new table now)

The pictures don't do it much justice but without further ado behold the table top! It is a "Sapphire Blue" Granite slab and I think it will be awesome.

I had the bottom side edges polished for a cleaner look and easier clean/wipedown. The hole cutout will act as my paving stone for the egg.

I thought you might have messed up for a second until i clicked and expanded the pictures. That color is sharp, that will look great.

This project got away from me as our son was born in June and he took up most of my free time. Unfortunately I got laid off in December and have been going back and forth on the design as my egg's were used more and more with the free time. I decided to get back to the project considering the circumstances and the free time I had on hand.

Finally found a local guru and egghead that is welding up my design and is doing an amazing job! I am very happy with the results thus far and it is coming along quite nicely!

Here are a few more photos of the latest. I know it's really well built and sturdy, maybe a little overboard, but it's the way I like things done! If a tornado ever came around in this neck of the woods it will take pretty much everything but this table!

Will you be powdercoating it?

What's the idea of the t support to the right of the cutout?

Inlaying some expanded metal below?

@blasting The plan is to get it powder coated. The + looking support is actually for the granite above which is also the area where the MiniMax will sit most of the time. At least that is the plan for now.

That's looking good. When you have the XL and the minimax on there together will the height of the felt lines be similar? I've been trying to figure out what to do with my minimax so it's not on the ground when i use it. I thiught about just building a table that will hold the XL that i want but I haven't been able to find any accurated dimensions of the XL egg online,

@OneNole03 thanks, However I just designed it and had a guy build this for me and I will do the rest.

@matoch they should be fairly close, I don't have the drawings with me but I think the XL will stick out 5.5" above the table. I used the BGE plans as my base and did a bunch of double checking and back and forth to figure it out. Let's hope I didn't mess up, because there is no going back

What's the guestimate on weight for the table + granite + eggs? That'll be a monster setup!!!

@DaveRichardson at this point I am estimating at about 1200-1400 pounds. The wheels are good for 2000 pounds.

Powder coating and sealing is done. Currently adding the wheels and then onto the wood

I really like your table so far. How much does it cost to powder coat something that big?

@pinballLooking depends, things tend to be a lot more expensive up here. For something this size it's about $400-$500 and you add to the cost if you get seam sealing done.

@BigGreenGator I am actually going with something even better. I am planing on picking up some Kayu Batu today. It's an exotic Indonesian wood that has a high heat burning point. Very similar to IPE, but has a few other properties I prefer over IPE.

Can I ask you retroactively to make me a 2nd one of these? That wood looks amazing. I could look at Kayu Batu pictures on the net all day long. Hopefully you can Egg half as well as you can build a custom table!

@SGrabs33 thank you, here is a little progress being made with the bottom shelf. I would have to say my egging is a lot better than my building skills.
