@1move I can't wait to see this table complete. How are you coping with the fire ban? The fireban in stratcona county started the week after I got my egg.
Edmonton, Alberta - XL & Minimax -
@Captain_Paul the cover is gone
@matoch the table is almost done, getting the last three pieces cut today as it needs a special blade due to its density and I can't do length wise cuts as I don't have a table saw. I had them cut once when I lined up the wood but I was off by an 1/8" of an inch and it produced a larger gap than I wanted.
We we are not under a fire ban yet, however I have not egged for a little while as this table has been my main focus, I just can't wait to have it done.XLBGE, MMBGE, CyberQ -
@1move the fireban was declared province wide late last week https://www.albertafirebans.caEdmonton, Alberta - XL & Minimax

@1move the initial post I saw was a bit misleading. Glad you can still use your eggs. I'll continue to sit here being jealous of others cooks until the ban is lifted where I live.Edmonton, Alberta - XL & Minimax

Most shelves are done, just 3 more pieces of wood! Waiting for the stain to dry, then onto granite

Looking good. I tried some of the composite deck boards on front of a metal table. Didn't like the result, door was too heavy.

Hey, brother, you done hit the mother load. Great design, even better execution.Beef...It's what's for dinner tonight.

Thank you for the kid words guys! It took a lot of effort to piece it all together and make the design come to life.XLBGE, MMBGE, CyberQ

Well its been a while....
I got busy with life and never came back to update. Here are some photos of the finished product and how it sits today. Still looks great and gets a nice stain coat every year to keep it looking new.

Is the egg sitting on anythig below it? I had given some thought to a similar build made from composite decking boards

Composite deck boards may not be the best choice of material. Heat may have a deleterious effect. Insulate?? or maybe air gap, or maybe a different material. Just do your research (or maybe someone here can help). I have used hdpe material from plasticlumberyard.com (not truly composite decking) and I know it melts when cutting.
Always act so that you can tell the truth about how you act.

That was my concern and why I opted against it. I have tinkered with many different table builds over the years. Most are just stored away as something I dont want to make vs the ones I already do.
