18 BUTTS ON A XL ( Pic Heavy )

I thought that would get your attention !!!!

Cooking for our annual Men's Conference for our church. 18 butts (6 at a time).   Turbo butts take 4.5 hrs. I'm finishing up round 2 at 183 IT right now. All is good in Carrollton, KY. The Rockwood is blasting, AS ALWAYS  !!

I had an unusual lesson learned this morning. I lowered the lid of the egg and the band came loose !!!!  Yep, heart attack time !!!!  Luckily it was very close to completely closed so no harm done...other than shock to my heart, mind, and soul !!!!

I adjusted the tensioner bolts, aligned everything back up and tightened them back.  All is well again in Donnie's World.

As a reminder eggheads, don't wait like I did...I have had my XL for over 2 years, made almost 100 cooks, and I had never even checked a bolt or nut.....I know peers, I know, you taught me better !!!!!

Here's a few picks of the progression. I'll post some money shots later.

Later my friends,

Donnie

Wow man that is a lot of butt!  Your egg looks like it has been working hard.

Just my $.02, but I would be pulling them off at 160-170, wrapping in foil, and into the oven so I could move on to the next round.

Are you going to pull all the pork and reheat later?

Which came first the chicken or the egg?  I egged the chicken and then I ate his leg.

Looks like you have the whole Kardashian clan over.  That might be one of the most "used" looking eggs I've ever seen.  I think one of the elders (fisherless maybe?)  showed theirs once and it was on par with yours.

Nice!   Way to rock it!  By the way Donnie, you might win the award for the most disgusting Egg.  I'm surprised one of your neighbors hasn't written "Clean Me!" into the gunk on the outside.

@Bring Back John  ( JohnInCarolina )...All that is from last night. Well, I really didn't clean the top vent, so it probably had some grease caked in it. But, I did powerwash the egg last week after coming home from the fundraiser.

SmokeyPitt  I've refused to use the oven !!!   Just my personal challenge !!!

saluki2007  Got 250-300 hungry men coming to a church men's conference tonight and eating RNNL8 BBQ Pulled Pork Sammiches afterward...I hope 18 butts will hold em over. 185 lbs and I am figuring about 1/2 lb each should do the job with the loss during cooking.

I use large buns and I try to average 1/2 lb pork per sammich...That's the way I like it....I couldn't serve anything less !!!!

Legume ...Yes they are workhorses...'er workEGGS !!!  I need a twin to balance the load !!!!  SWMBO would have me stuffed in an egg if I came home with another one though !!!

Awesome Donnie.  None of those fru-fru pretty boy meals coming off that bad boy.  That's a straight up BBQ producing machine!!!

Thanks for all you do towards the advancement of His Kingdom.

stompbox...The gasser is used for storage, it is 11 years old and finally rusted out underneath the other day....thought it looked lonely so I captured a pic....The license plate is my BBQ Company name...RNNL8 BBQ !! All proceeds from the company go directly to my ministry.
